Dawn of the Planet of the Apes - Part 2

^ I guess that was one of the scenes that was cut? The enraged Apes probably caught up with them...

I don't expect Caesar to die until at least the end of the next film and so if they jump into the future with Taylor it won't be until part 4 or 5

I ee your point but this series was planned as a trilogy with planet of the apes being the third movie.but now that these movies are makin tons of money I could see them stretching it out to 4 or 5 films.vut we wont have that twist ending with taylor finding out its earth because we already know.

The twist wouldn't be an ending anymore but still be part of the film if they have Taylor,We the audience know but the character would have to to find out somehow and so it'd likely be a plot point of the story that. Hilda up to it for the character than as a major twist

I saw this film, last night and it was awesome!

My only nitpick is the human characters, they all got their moment but I just wasn't that interested to them.

So the shot of Koba on top of the tank,

How does it compare to the joker sticking his head out of the police car?

*********************

I'm disappointed in the mediocre box office for this film.

^ $73mil OW (compared to Rise's $54mil [I think]) is disappointing?

Also, loved both shots.

This had a great opening. I dunno how that could possibly be seen as "mediocre," since it was much higher than its predecessor AND higher than tracking predictions. I think GotG will be lucky to hit similar numbers.

If it opened around $60M that certainly would've been disappointing but hitting the higher end of tracking is good.

You know what this movie reminded me of, especially the first 10-20 minutes of it? Apocalypto, which is another film I love. I love seeing an alien(to us at any rate) culture just going about it's own routine. Quite fascinating.

If Koba returns to feud with Ceasar in the next film, then it REALLY makes it clear that this storyline should have been developed into the next film instead of shoe-horned into this one.

How the hell was Koba's story "shoe horned?" He more or less drove the plot of this film.

Also, just reposting this Dawn of the Dead style poster I made nearly two years ago.

It's so much fun that we're all debating the imagery and the metaphors of this movie!

The shot of Koba on the floor after him and Caesar's initial fight looked so real. Just amazing stuff.

So saw it again, opinion really hasn't changed, still the best of the year so far for me by a long way.

How could they introduce Taylor when the original took place 2,000 years into the future? Hence why there were no cities left and it was just land with grass and desert.

Anyone here read the Firestorm novel? It's set in between Rise and Dawn. Gives you a lot of insight on Koba, who is personally my favourite character in the franchise. Also, you learn more about Dreyfus too. Not sure if I spelt his name right, haha.

He could always unwillingly through a Worm Hole & essentially time travel to the future or something like that

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes takes what worked in Rise of the Planet of the Apes and turns it up several notches.

10 years after the events of ROTPOTA,the apes lead by Caesar, have established their own colony and community
beyond San Francisco in the Muir Woods, thinking all of the humans have died off, but some humans that were immune to the "simian
virus" have also colonized in the ruins of San Francisco and of course an inevitable collision is right on the horizon.

There is tension and turmoil in the ape and human colonies, tension that involves family, loyalty, loss and scars from the past that
can never be forgotten.Director Matt Reeves and writers Mark Bomback,Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver turn up these tensions that pushed
me to my edge of my seat. These tensions boil over and not only produce some great action sequences, but also some terrific moments of
raw emotion.

Andy Serkis as Caesar ....what can i say that hasnt been said about his brilliant work in another great motion capture performance.Whatever red carpet he walks down next the Academy should just hand him an Oscar.Praise should also be given to Nick Thurston as Blue Eyes Karin Konoval as Maurice, and last but definitely not least Toby Kebbell as Koba, Caesar's second in command.

I would have liked more character development on the human side, but Jason Clarke as Malcolm give's a heartfelt performance.

Im very curious about and in high anticipation for the next film.

Scale of 1-10 an 8½

The CGI in this film is insane.

There was one shot of Maurice towards the end in the bus when I friggin' swear it was a real Orangutan, the detail and rendering was THAT convincing. It was so good Reeves or effects guys could have told us that they used a real ape for that shot and I would have believed them no questions asked.

I enjoyed this movie a lot, very well made. the only complaint I have would pretty much be nitpicking. At the same time it kinda bothers me not to say it.

Now I know the human population has been depleted by the virus. The only ones left are just barely surviving. I'll accept how desperate it got in 10 years. Now you're telling me in just 10 years the ape has developed so well that they are now thinking of imprisoning humans? even succeeded (only briefly but still). Something like that probably should of happened in the next movie then Caesar could've made his point about ape and human been the same.

Now this didn't take away from the movie for me but it just stood out to me. In 10 years that's quite the advancement for Apes against Humans who took thousands of years. what do you guys think?

I don't want my post to be negative about the movie because I really enjoyed it. favorite part was when Caesar allowed the human to work then Koba is like:
Human work, human work, HUMAN WORK!!!
Caesar stood up as if saying: "The F*** you said to me?

Ohh another interesting thing I saw. Is it just me or is Caesar son seem to stand up straighter than the rest of the apes. He also has the most human quality.
Anyways great movie will see it again next week-end

I liked how this movie drew from Battle for the POTA, while Rise drew from Conquest a bit.
