After every "big" event, comic companies usually use this as a springboard for new books. One of DCs entries into this field is Shadowpact. I read & enjoy this book. Its different enough & features under used characters in such a fashion that it sets itself apart from many other books. But honestly, do you really think we will be seeing a #50 issue variant special Shadowpact,
The order changes issue?

I give it about until about #24. 2 years seems to be the average length of time for books like these. DC would probably like to cancel it sooner, but that would be admitting that the DC crisis was a failure, in some respects.

Any other books you see as on the DC Deathwatch?

I think Shadowpact has the potential to survive. Its one of the only magic based team books with a lot of great characters. But so far they havn't been that impressive. Im still rading them because I have high hopes, but we'll have to wait and see what happens.

I'd like to see some other ongoings though especially for Freedom Fighters and the Doom Patrol start. Wouldnt mind seeing more Creeper but Steve Niles is more of a mini series man than ongoing titles. I know they could get someone else but Niles is doing really good with the mini series.

Cancelled in 2 years or less

Ion
Omac
Omega Men
Atom
Creeper
Manhunter (definitely since she's the new Bird of Prey)
possibly Blue Beetle (if they don't do something with that character QUICK)
grim n gritty Martian Manhunter (mini-series right?)

Ion, Omac, Creeper are all minis.

Yeah, only eight issues. At the end of which, I feel he'll be joining the JLA, and going back to not having his own book.

I doubt he'll join the JLA as long as Meltzer's onboard. Red Tornado already fits his outsider role well enough, and you know Meltzer's never gonna let go of RT. He's like the golden child of Meltzer's JLA.

Sadly, I disagree. He may not get an ongoing, but I think they're trying to make him a more aloof character. It's really too bad, because he's a JLA character, but the way he's been interacting with the other heroes (see his response to Batman in Superman-Batman) doesn't suggest that he's coming back to the fold. It sucks, and it's a poor move on DC's part, but such is life.

On the other hand, if they do bring him back, I don't see what the point of making him aloof in the first place was. No matter what they do with the character, it's either a waste of a character or a waste of the miniseries.

I've only read the first issue of Shadowpact. For some reason the other issues of thei series so far haven't grabbed me...as well as the other new One Year Later titles. I have the first issue of Wonder Woman but again, the second issue didn't grab me.

Meh, I'm not interested in any of 'em, actually. And the one's I am, are mini's, ugh.

To not make Ion and on-going would be shooting oneself in the foot for DC.

Ion needs to become an ongoing.

The Martian Manhunter should become an ongoing but with a different writer.

I hope that the Creeper will become an ongoing.

Hawkgirl needs to go back to being Hawkman, PRONTO!

I really hope that The All-New Atom, the Flash: The Fastest Man Alive, Aquaman: Sword of Atlantis, and Wonder Woman stay as ongoings and don't get canceled. I like them so far.

It's funny how some of these characters, I never thought I gave a **** about them. Aquaman didn't mean much to me until shortly before Infinite Crisis, when some people here on the Hype convinced me that he was a decent character. The Atom was barely on my radar before Identity Crisis. But now that they've been replaced...God, I can't stand it. You say Hawkgirl needs to go back to being Hawkman, and I agree. But I'd add that Aquaman needs to go back to being Aquaman, and The All-New Atom needs to go back to The All-Better Atom.

Aquaman I'm all right with, since the real Aquaman is still a presence in his own book, at least.

Ion should be made an ongoing.

Martian Manhunter should go back to Ostrander and Mandrake, and they should be allowed to ditch this crappy, Martian Angsthunter story that Lieberman's setting up.

Flash should just be put out of its, and our, misery.

Atom could be the best comic in history and I'd still want it to be canceled because, quite frankly, the Atom without Ray Palmer isn't worth the time.

No, I still want Aquaman to be Aquaman. This new guy...he has nothing to him. He's just another kid superhero, but with water. Aquaman was regal, he was a ****ing king, and he acted like one.

Kyle Rayner...man, I wish he was still GL. Hal's cool and all, but I grew up with Kyle. Same reason I want Wally back as Flash.

J'onn...I wish he could go back to being J'onn, but if he did it would have totally wasted a story. And if he doesn't, he's just a crappy character. And I am NOT down with this whole "there are other Martians" bull****.

You're right. The Atom without Ray Palmer is not worth the time.

OMAC, Uncle Sam, Mysteries in Space
all cancelled i bet.

They won't get canceled on account that all of those are minis

And all you Flash and Atom haters just aren't giving Bart and Ryan a chance!

Are people really so stupid to not realise what a mini is.

The on-goings to come out of IC are:

Blue Beetle.
The Atom.
Wonder Woman (technically because it's been relaunched with a number 1).
Flash.
Checkmate.
Aquaman: Sword of Atlantis.
Hawkgirl.
Shadowpact.

Uncle Sam, Ion, Secret Six, Mystery in Space, OMAC, Creeper, Martian Manhunter, Trials of Shazam, Omega Men, Tales of the Unexpected and Connor Hawke are minis... and are not going to get cancelled. Some of them maybe turned into ongoings - Uncle Sam, Ion and Shazam are the best bets.

Cancelled will be:

Blue Beetle after about 25.
Atom after about 12.
Checkmate before the end of 07.
Shadowpact around the same time Checkmate.
Hawgirl about halfway through 07.

I'm pretty sure Flash and Wonder Woman won't get cancelled, but they might merge into JLA or something. Aquaman is gonna be fine for a long time, though they need to get rid of the 'current aquaman' because he's a *****.

Now, these arn't just about my 'likes and dislikes', as I adore Shadowpact and Blue Beetle for some reason. They just arn't really clear what they're doing with the title, and when it's something thats being newly launched, thats the worst thing that can ever happen.

I don't see Checkmate getting cancelled as its one of DC's most popular titles.

Considering Checkmate #6 came out this week, I think your predicition, like everything else in your life, will be wrong.
