DC Infinite Crisis Deathwatch: How long before these new books bite the dust?

All-New Atom: Matchesmalone said it would be cancelled in 2 years or less. SouLeSS called it dead after Issue 12, and drastic_quench called it dead by Issue 25. Issue 23 has been solicited for May 7, 2008, and the book doesn't seem like it's winding down to a close, which should make hippiehunter, who prayed for the book to keep going, a happy camper. I give this one at least another year, which is a turnabout for me; I despised the book when it started. And really, I do still want Ray Palmer back as the Atom. But until he decides to come back, Ryan Choi will do OK. I wonder if Corp's come around the same way I did: a year and a half ago, he said he had no interest whatsoever in Choi as Atom, even if it was the best comic in the world.
Without Gail this book is doomed :csad:

Aquaman: The Sword of Atlantis: SouLeSS thought the book would be "fine for a long time," and he was totally wrong. Hippiehunter liked it for some reason, but the rest of us knew it sucked. I'm told it had an upswing in quality towards the end, but that didn't save it from cancellation, which should makes me happy, since I wanted the real Aquaman or none at all. Corp had mixed feelings: as long as Orin had a presence in the book, he'd accept it. Then Orin died, not long before the book did.
I was sad when this book got cancelled because Tad wanted to bring back Orin. But now I'm happy because it's going to be relaunched with Johns and Van Sciver on it.

Cable-Deadpool: Not even a DC book, but SouLeSS seemed to believe it would survive for quite awhile longer. And I guess it did make it about another year and a half, so his prediction's sorta true.
This one pisses me off. Especially since Way will be writing Deadpool

Checkmate: OtepApe didn't see it being canned anytime soon. SouLeSS called it dead by the end of 2007. Darthphere verbally assaulted him for it. And while the book might be dead to some people after Rucka leaves, Issue 26 is being solicited for May 21, 2008, the start of not just a new arc, but a new creative team. This book's around for at least another year, even though Yenaled seemingly implied that it would end when Rucka left. Green Lantern called it--the book is one of DC's best titles, and it's not getting cancelled. This book also has the only prediction that still can't be verified or denied: drastic_quench said it would be done before 50 issues.
I regret bashing this book before I read it. Rucka did a great job. But now that Jones is on it, I'm dropping it and it will get cancelled.

Flash: The Fastest Man Alive: SouLeSS said it wouldn't be cancelled, but that it might "merge" into JLA, which doesn't even really make sense, but I think we can safely say he was completely wrong. OtepApe could not believe that Flash would be cancelled. "It just won't happen," he said. Hippiehunter liked it for some reason, but the rest of us knew it sucked. We were pleased when the book was cancelled after 13 issues. That low of a number is normally reserved for awesome out-there mid-90s books that don't sell well enough, not mainstream superhero titles. On the other hand, a new Flash book picked up almost immediately, so basically, all the people who said Flash couldn't be cancelled because of upcoming films and other dollar-sense, such as drastic_quench, were sort of right.
While it didn't suck as much as people made it out to be, we can all agree that Bilson and DeMeo were horribly mediocre on it. Guggenheim on the other hand freaking rocked on this book and this book ended very well written.

Ion, OMAC, Omega Men, Martian Manhunter: Matchesmalone said they would be cancelled in 2 years or less. Since they were minis, that was sort of a given, but they sure weren't turned into ongoings. Yenaled, Corp, and hippiehunter said DC would be shooting themselves in the foot if they didn't turn Ion into a mini, and although I didn't say so in this thread, I thought the same thing. In retrospect, I shouldn't have been as shocked as I was when it became clear that they wouldn't be doing that.

On the other hand, they seem to be putting J'onn EVERYWHERE in the DCU lately, so maybe they're prepping him for a new series/miniseries, or maybe just for reentry into the JLA. That might satisfy people like me and hippiehunter; he clamored for a J'onn ongoing with a different writer, while I wanted J'onn in the JLA. Thus far, Corp's wish for an Ostrander/Mandrake Martian Manhunter book remains unfulfilled.
I still clammor for a Kyle ongoing!

And I think that J'onn will be the next person to join the JLA with the Salvation Run tie-in.

Wonder Woman: SouLeSS said it wouldn't be cancelled, but that it might "merge" into JLA, which doesn't even really make sense. KingofDreams predicted, in a roundabout way, an early demise, but CConn, OtepApe and drastic_quench were having none of it. If things had gone as they do with most crappy books, KOD would have been right, but since it was Wonder Woman, they HAD to do something. Simone seems to be saving it. That'll please hippiehunter, who spoke up in favor of the book.
Horrible delays aside, Heinberg at least wrote a damn good arc for this book. What pissed me off the most that Pfeifer's fill-in issue sucked. And Picoult's run sucked because of stupid Amazon's Attack.

Now, Simone is on the book and it's better than ever

Im not incredibly familiar with him, but I believe he is writing the DPvsWolvie story in Wolverine right now, and hes not doing bad with DPs personality.

Can someone please make a big wall with comic covers with big red X's on them? please.

I was sad when this book got cancelled because Tad wanted to bring back Orin. But now I'm happy because it's going to be relaunched with Johns and Van Sciver on it.
Man, I'm so glad I resurrected this thread! So much good news you people are telling me!

Guggenheim really should get the gig on the current Flash book. He writes a good, solid superhero story, he tells it well, he gets the job done, and you can tell he loves, appreciates, and respects the Flash mythos. He's basically the polar opposite of that ******* from Heroes who's writing Superman/Batman at the moment.

As do we all.

Here's hoping. But the JLA and JSA are gonna need to start trimming the fat here pretty soon.

As if John needs permission, or needs an invitation to join the JLA. Ridiculous.

J'Onn should just start his own JLA.

With Aquaman, blackjack and hookers.

that's right buddy. you know what? i've been thinkin about it. who wants to post in a DC lounge. I've been thinkin of starting one.

They'd just kill it like they did the Darth/Leaguer thread.

But we have the right to lounge! If they kill it we revolt!
