Discuss everything to do with the DC movieverse here

Ill go first.

Im personally happy with WB/DC 9 film slate and like the rumoured movies they have planned.

I however think they have made a huge mistake with Titans and Suicide Squad.

Titans is FAR more marketable than Suicide Squad and so belongs on the big screen-In the Dc movieverse.Suicide Squad belongs in one of the TV universes.Theyve made a huge misstep in this direction

I have to disagree with you on this. I believe it is the opposite of what you are saying.

First off: Titans or Teen Titans would probably not fit in the current DCCU because that would mean that superheroes had sidekicks. Not that there couldn't be sidekicks in this current DCCU, but I just don't think it fits. Now put that concept in television and it certainly fits most of what the CW is known for, which is young adult drama.

The Suicide Squad on the other had fits perfectly within the MOS universe. Make it as grounded in reality as possible like the Dark Knight Trilogy and add a little superpowered squad mates like Plastique and Deathstroke and you're good to go. As for storyline, you can have them "acquire" an artifact in places like Kandaque? or Quarac? Or maybe break someone out of Iron Heights. Considering villains can be a lot more interesting than heroes, this could be really be a good movie!

But this has to come after the Justice League.

I hope this movie happens. It really got me excited that WB wants Ayers on this. Make it happen WB! You can do It!

Titans is quite different from Teen Titans even though they are often confused for each other.Teen Titans is the Sidekick team.Titans on the other hand is not.

Titans has Nightwing, Raven,Starfire, BeastBoy and Cyborg has members.Non of which are Sidekicks. So it fits with the Mos verse.

Titans have better GA awareness than Suicide squad so would be more marketable on the big screen. The added bonus is that Nightwing the team leader has a strong Batman connection which also helps with Marketing.

Suicide Squad is a harder sell than Titans and so belongs on tv show.Obviously not on CW b/c of its tone but TNT seems to be a right fit

I'm glad you're not in charge, because I wouldn't want to wait that long for the Sandman movie.

Well, I wouldn't even want a Sandman movie (at least this soon). I'd rather have movies for The Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, etc.

This is how I think/hope the DC 2016-2020 slate will play out post-Batman v Superman.

Shazam - 8/5/16

Justice League- 6/23/17

Suicide Squad - 11/17/17

Wonder Woman - 3/23/18

Man of Steel 2 - 7/27/18

Aquaman - 4/05/19

The Batman - 6/14/19

Green Lantern/Flash - 4/03/20

Justice League Dark or JL2 - 6/19/20

I don't really see Morpheus and the other six endless as being heavily connected to characters like the Flash or Green Lantern. They be part of there own stories separate from the DC superheroes.

If this were true then why are there reports that Titans is heading to TNT and WB wants David Ayers to direct Suicide Squad movie?

In terms of marketability, both properties are only known within the Geek/Comic Book community which makes around 1% of the movie going public (GA). Both have as equal chances of success of Guardians of the Galaxy and the failure of Green Lantern.

But tonally I still think Suicide Squad belongs to the DCCU movieverse.

Always find it funny when people on the internet think they know more about this than people who do it for a living

Highly doubt JL Dark has a set date at WB and I am one of the seemingly few people who think there is a decent shot of it being made, but it definitely isnt one of the movies they announced.

The problem with Titans is that, even if you go with the adult versions of the character, than that means that they were younger at one point and grew up. Dick Grayson was Robin and then became Nightwing, unless you're making him completely separate from Batman (which kind of kills the whole point). But this DCCU seems to be going with the idea that these heroes are a relatively new thing, or at least them operating OPENLY is. That doesn't really jell with the idea of teenage sidekicks. However, Suicide Squad would fit perfectly into this world. Heck you could even say that the government set it up in part as a response to the emergence of all of these aliens/gods/metahumans/etc.

What I want, meant to be somewhat realistic (I'd love a Martian Manhunter movie but WB probably won't give him one in the near future :( (I don't even know if the dates are right, this is just off the top of my head and this thread):

2016:
Dawn of Justice
Aquaman

2017:
Wonder Woman
Flash/GL

2018:
Shazam
Justice League

2019:
MOS 2 (with MMH)
Batman

2020:
Aquaman 2
Wonder Woman 2

2021:
Flash solo movie
GL solo movie

2022:
JL Dark
Justice League 2

Shazam has been confirmed which means that it is definitely the other 2016 movie aside from BVS.

Aquaman has its lead cast ,is being written and has a rumoured director.Definitely the movie that comes after Shazam.

Sucide Squad will be next since it has a director.

So the lineup for 2016 and 2017 are

2016-BVS and Shazam
2017-Aquaman and Suicide Squad

JL will come out in 2018 according to Trades.

anyone see the tomorrowland trailer? warners needs to get brad bird to direct anything he wants asap.

Brad Bird would be great, but I think he'll be busy with Tomorrowland, and he really takes his time with his films.

(Unless Shazam doesn't arrive until 2017. Perhaps the late November date? Tell me it wouldn't be the perfect Christmas movie ;).

Suicide Squad and Sandman are the other movies I can see taking this late November date.)

Lord & Miller would also be a great pick for Shazam imo. They have nothing on their plate, and I'm sure WB is pleased about what they managed to do with the Lego movie.

I also wouldn't be disappointed if they went for a 'lower-tier' director like Shawn Levy (Real Steel, Night at the Museum) so long as they get the tone right.

he can direct anything he wants when he wants to. they just need to lock him up before marvel does. he's already got some good rapport with disney, and wb didn't really promote the iron giant as much as they should have, so he may not be as open to working with them as much as he would with marvel.
