DC Villian movie

Hi, would anyone else think it would be a great idea to do a movie on a Batman Villian? It didnt work for Catwoman but i think that was mostly because it was just a bad idea for a story.

But i think there are other villians that could potentially make a great story.

Like Riddler or even Black Mask.

I'm sure it won't happen, but other than Catwoman, the only other Bat-villain I can think of who could possibly support his own movie is the big one himself.

joker is nothing without batman....its like eating an apple pie without the apples...batman is the apples and the joker is the crust....if that makes any sense...

black masks sucks....hated his story arc...and riddler is pointless without batman....

I dont think it can be done....It is too risky for the studios especially after how catwoman flopped...

Maybe Jason Todd can have a stand alone...but it wouldnt do well without having batman in it...

Well, yeah, but I think more people would probably go for a Joker movie than, say, a Riddler movie. Black Mask? They'd be like "Who the f*** is that?"

The Joker is such a larger than life character that you could possibly do a solo movie with him. Just have him go nuts and do his thing. Catwoman done right could also carry a film (but that's probably out of the question now). Every other villain, I don't think anyone would care if Batman wasn't involved.

The Ventriloquist and Scarface could work. Move them out of Gotham to say Vegas or Atlantic City and p;lan not a casino heist, the Ocean's Number franchise has done that to death, but a private game in a well guarded suite where several executives who were over over over compensated for running their companies into the ground are having a billion dollar tournament.

Object: their cash.

The crooks are thus more sympathetic than the victims.

I actually opened a similar thread here, and I think your ideas could go really well in it. The concept of a super-villain film as opposed to a super-hero one should be done in Hollywood today, at least with the draw of the genre, it'd be really innovative. I had hopes for Wanted but that bombed. For DC villains in general, I'd say the best way to go would be a New Gods make. Darkseid is his own villain, independent of Superman, and a lot of people don't seem to realize that. Alternatively, Toy-Man (ala Saw), Circe and Zsasz would've done well as spin-offs.

For villains, I'd love to see a Lex Luthor movie, about him working on a cosmic scale with just his raw intelligence and charm. His parlays with Death, his betraying Darkseid and Brainiac. Brilliant stuff. Circe could be kind of fun, depending on how they played her backstory and modernization, and how she interacted with the Olympians. Deathstroke is almost too easy to do right. For my money though, a Sinestro film has the most potential, emotionally. He's one villain who has a compelling endgame.

Agree with GL1 - Sinestro would be brilliant! I'm still fervent about the GL anthology that's said to come out with the film, I'm sure it'd have at least one Sinestro story in there. I like the Circe idea a lot because she has a reputation beyond the comics and the Wonder Woman titles, making her on-par with some of the other, grander, rogues in the DCU. Luthor is great too, but everyone will be waiting for his round with the Man of Steel, like everyone was dying to see Nolan's Joker at the end of Batman Begins. But it can be done, I always see Brainiac as the Joker equivalent, so a story about how Lex Luthor came to dominate Metropois' financial and political arenas would make for some serious non-super-hero oriented filmmaking. Then for the third act you get in an interstellar threat, possibly Darkseid as you've said, and you give Luthor an amoral reason to despise Superman (who can appear in the denouement).

 

[E-Man]

If it's one villain I'd have to go with Ra's Al Ghul. There's so much that you could do with him. In his mind he's doing what is right, but the outside world fears him and sees him as evil. There is a lot of inner conflict that you could make a film on with Ra's.

Personally though I'd rather see a Suicide Squad movie. That would be really good if they strayed from too much flash over substance.

Lobo (Hey, he's a funny guy, if the Deadpool movie ever gets made, maybe DC will think about it? Animated movie would be nice.)

Sinestro (Definitely would be interesting, I'd settle for just seeing his own animated movie even.)

why not an Anarky movie as a spin-off to BB/TDK/TDKR? introducing him in the nolanverse and giving a movie to his origin and first actions? Tom Felton can pull him off. only problem that he was a little kid in the comics... just make him a teenager or a young adult and this should work.

I think a great idea is to introduce Doomsday. Just having him arrive ,crashing to earth and showing the destruction he brings. Nothing but the army trying to take him down ,understand where he came from...........at the very end when nothing we can do to stop him works, [cue the Superman music ] and make Superman vs Doomsday be the next Superman film opening.

Of the ones mentioned, I definitely agree with Deathstroke, Suicide Squad, and Secret Six. Sinestro sounds interesting, but I'm not sure. I'd love to see animated shorts about the different Lantern Corps, especially Atrocitus and Larfleeze.

Another name I'd throw out there is Black Adam. Not that I'm dying to see him in his own film, but I feel like he MIGHT be one with the weight to carry his own story.

Black Adam will definitely make for an interesting stand-alone film. He ties in perfectly with the SHAZAM cast and these days he's more of an anti-hero anyway. The only thing I hate about the guy is his pointy facial feature -- too Namor.

Absolutely ANARKY. I wrote a script years ago. Maybe even a Robin movie with Anarky as the villain spinning off from the Batman franchise at some point.

I'd definitely like a movie about the Nolan-jokert:, about what he did before and during BB until he plans the bank robbery. The movie could start with freshly cut scars( so you wouln't take away the mystery) and end it with the Joker waiting for the truck(in the beginning of TDK).You could make manny links with the original movies, in that way there still is a connection with Batman, because as the guy with the apple pie said:"joker is nothing without batman".

Nolan doesn't want the Joker back but since he stops after TDKR, WB just needs another director(a good one),but it will be hard to find an actor who looks like Ledger and portays the Joker as good as he did.

This would be such a nice movie, but could easily fail when not done properly.
It could even destroy the fantastic character Ledger created, so perhaps this would be too tricky.
