How is the main core story of Convergence so far? I'm waiting for it to finish in 2 months before reading, so just want some opinions. Does it in fact connect Earth-2 and Future's End with it as most sites are saying pre-release?

The Question #2 is ****ing alley.

I'll read the main storyline and a few of the tie-ins...the Batman related tie-ins only. Between this and Secret Wars, that's a lot of reading.

Sucks for you then cause Shadow of the Bat and Batman & Robin have been among the worst. Batman & The Outsiders is pretty good though but it's not the "grim dark" Batman so I don't know how much that may matter to you.

Pre-Crisis week was for the most part pretty great. Continuity between the books is a little off, but the quality is nothing short of fun. Easily the part part of this event.

Looks like the characters will stick around after Convergence and can be used again for all creative teams!

While looking at the cover of the final issue of Convergence, out May 27, Jeff King explained the plot of the event in brief for the audience. He highlighted the connections between Crisis on Infinite Earth (whose characters will have events happening to them after Convergence, he said), Worlds End, and Convergence. He said that #8 will give us a “revelation about who Braniac really is”. Asked how the DC universe will change after Convergence, King said that “Every character will now be available to storytellers. We won’t see them all right away, but we will have the opportunity to bring them together again”.

The fact that a creator could conceivably tell a story with pre-52 Batman makes me happier than I could possibly describe.

I am very confused with what has just happen in convergence. Can someone please explain it to me? Because the way I saw it is that all the previous history from each world was just now combined to the history of their new respective world or am I wrong?

The way I understand it, the original 1985 Crisis on Infinite Earths has been "undone", so all that pre-1985-Crisis stuff is back in play... not sure how this affects continuity... I'm sure there will be "tweaks"...

I just don't get it. I hope DC can answer my questions because from my understanding it seems like all the histories from Earth-Prime just got merged into one which means New 52 Superman should start feeling something towards Lois now or am I wrong.

Nothing as simple as a DC Crisis to make things more complicated AND confusing to the readers... lol

The execution could've been better cause so many people are trying to make rocket science out of biology. I personally got the jist of it though.

It's hypertime. Essentially.

The worlds in the multiverse function through different vibrations.

The Multiversity map maps out the local multiverse which is the multiverse from the 52 weekly series after Infinite Crisis which was made up of 52 worlds now rejiggered by Flashpoint.

Outside of the local multiverse timeline (one specific set of vibrations) we still have a greater omniverse technically speaking as each Earth is layered with different timeline upon different timeline (different vibrational frequencies) where basically the entire DCU history as we know it still very much happened in story just like we watched it happen in real life.

Think of Justice League #40 and The Multiversity explaining that in a physical sense everything is essentially the same it's just that the timelines reset and reboot with each ongoing crisis and as that happens new timeline branches get created across the different earths.

Essentially nothing is untouchable now for creators. If somebody wants to pitch a new volume of the original All-Star Squadron series they could very well do that without being laughed out of the building.

Second issue of The Flash tie-in series is also pretty crucial in the explanation of the different planes of existence. Tangent Superman specifically states that not only is he from Earth-9 (home of the post-Flashpoint Tangent Universe) but he also lets Flash (pre-Crisis Barry) know that he is someone from outside his multiversal reality entirely.

They operate in different frequencies. In other words he was foreign to the local multiverse 's timeline (the "new 52 worlds") that came after Flashpoint but still came from a prior timeline somewhere within the DCU's greater cosmic makeup.

Depending on which frequency you tap into if you're essentially traveling to Earth-4 for example you could end up in either the Pax Americana timeline or the Charlton timeline. Either way it's the same occupational space but the frequency changes when it reboots.

Don't bang your head over it.

Everything DC has published during the last 80 years has happened in their in story universe. The End.

I get the "vibrating universe" operating at different frequencies...that's pretty much how they explained the various Earths in the 70's... My only concern is what would be considered "canon" or "continuity" moving forward...

Everything is "canon".

Just that now stories will be more stand alone and not step on each others toes even within the same universes. Essentially a return to silver and bronze age "story over continuity" editing style.

So even though say a big chunk of Bizarro takes place on Earth-0 it doesn't need to tie-in to the Truth story going on in other Superman family books set on Earth-0. It could tell it's own story while Truth is told elsewhere.

Some of the books launching in June will take place outside of Earth-0 like Prez and Earth-2 Society.

Continuity depends on which Earth or timeline whatever comic you're reading is following. For example Justice League, Batman, The Flash etc. will still be set on Earth-0 and pick up from the continuity already established within those titles since 2011. Earth-2 Society will follow the post-Flashpoint Earth-2 characters and their respective adventures since 2011 serve as their own continuity etc.

At the same time if somebody wants to tell a story starring the Earth-2 characters from before even the crisis on infinite earths while E2 Society is ongoing they very well can. It's just another timeline vibrating at a different frequency on the same Earth.

Yes except it will take place on pre-crisis earth one and that would likely be specified but it wouldn't be titled Earth One. Since the Earth One subtitle is being used by the OGNs that take place on the New 52 Multiverse Earth-1.

I feel like Rita Repulsa, this is just giving me a headache.
