DC's 2015 Event: CONVERGENCE

I picked up three of the Convergence issues this week: The Question, Nightwing & Oracle and Harley Quinn. Nightwing & Oracle was probably my favourite of the bunch. I was a treat seeing Barbara as Oracle again instead of as Batgirl and the last panel of the book was a really great ending. The Question would come next and was a very good issue. Nice seeing Montoya again and I thought it was great seeing her interesting relationship with Two Face continue. And Harley Quinn was okay. I like Harley/Ivy together so the little teasing there was nice but those are really all my thoughts on it. It was okay.

Anyone totally understand convergence?

So just Gotham cities were saved from each world? And a bunch of different heroes were in gotham cities before they were domed?

So everyone not domed has died from that world?

Are domned cities located right next to each other, Superman went into Flashpoint Gotham very quickly.

I guess it can be confusing if you don't read it...

If I hear positive things than I'll buy it collected. I love the old DCU. But I'm not going to jump in with a messy crossover event until I see how it pans out. I've been duped with buying stories that go nowhere far too many times.

Week 1 is finally here and I'm ready.

It's really not difficult to understand.

It's not just different versions of Gotham that were saved it was also different versions of Metropolis and New York City as well. In addition to those you have cities like Qward, Hub City, Follywood etc.

The implication is that the domed are the last of their timelines/universes yes.

They seem to be laid at varying distances from each other like real cities. Of course for the super powered like Superman or Wally West it's a breeze for them to move from city to city.

Ok but the domed heroes in pre-flashpoint gotham are all in the same place right? Like superman, arsenal, wally all in the same place.

Yes. They all just happened to be in Gotham when Brainiac decided to take the city.

Just got done reading The Question #1... Damn fine book!

And that last page! :jd: Please Rucka, come back and write Renee and Kate! :hmr:

so is everything connected to this event, we've already seen that the new 52 and masters of the universe exist in the same universe, so i wonder if they will be involved

it would be kinda sweet seeing people like he-man/she-ra contributing to big dc events rather than a one off cross over

that plus a hordak vs darkseid is long over due

I'm enjoying this event so far. But I'm wondering, will Convergence and Multiversity connected?

As someone who has been following Earth 2 and Earth 2: Worlds End, I'm really enjoying the core Convergence mini. I can't help but feel that those who haven't been following Earth 2 might not be enjoying it as much. As for the minis, I found myself enjoying last week's books with the pre-Flashpoint characters returning, but the ones from this week with the Zero Year era did nothing for me. I really enjoyed Nightwing & Oracle, Batman & Robin, Batgirl, and the Question. Eager to see the next issue of those.

I'd love it if the new world to come after Convergence is the pre-Flashpoint world with other random characters somehow interwoven (like the Earth 2 characters that we know are going to be there). To have Stephanie Brown as Batgirl again and Renee Montoya as the Question again would be awesome. Not holding my breath, but I suppose it's possible depending on how sales go (which I don't follow really).

I dropped Earth 2 shortly after that bizarro Superman arc. Prior to that I was really enjoying it but I gave World's End a couple of issues and it was pretty much garbage. With that said I am enjoying the way Jeff King writes those characters. Especially since he still making it evidently clear that Alan is the HNIC despite there being a Batman and Superman also around.

Anyway this is my week 2 haul.

As an 80's baby who came of age in the 90's this week is pretty special because a lot of my favorite incarnations of certain characters & groups are finally back (Ie: Green Arrow, Batman, Steel, JLI, Superboy and Catwoman). It's especially refreshing to see post-crisis Selina again since I hate New 52 Catwoman quite a bit so I've been avoiding new Catwoman stories for years now.

Kelley Jones Swamp Thing and Tim Truman Hawkman....this is too perfect. Definite must-buys for me.
