This is the place to talk about Darwyn Cooke's amazing silver age epic. The Absolute version was released today.

I consider it my favorite graphic novel, what do you think about it?:gl: :super: :batty: :ww:

I consider it my third favourite.

It's a masterpiece.

I could go on all day about its' greatness.

Hey, I heard that the release date might have been moved from today to November...Is this true?

That would be very dissappointing...

I'm still debating whether I should buy it. I got it in comic form, but those Absolute Editions are so damn pretty......:(

I figure the ABSOLUTE version will act as a more permenant book that will stay in good condition forever, unlike the comic or the soft TPB.

I have never bought an ABSOLUTE version before, I hope it is worth it....I pre-ordered mine off Amazon.

I got Hush and Kingdom Come. They're both worth it.

Great to hear. Sorry to reiterate, but I heard that the release date might have been moved from today to November...Is this true?

Pretty much my favourite Elseworlds at the moment.

Where does "silver age" fit into pre-Crisis continuity or does it?

After the Golden Age so like, 1955 - 1970 something.

Yeah, it's my favourite comic of all time too. I have the trades of it but I'am thinking of getting the absoulte edition because I love it that much.:csad:

Yeah, I know when the Silver Age existed.

I'm just asking where current writers have tried to "fit" silver age continuity into the DCU...

Post crisis, it doesn't technicly

In Marvel terms, the Silver age, or at least Fantastic Four #1, has been established as being 13 years ago

DC has never been so specific, especially since most of the Silver and Golden Age isn't in continuity anymore.

I would say one of biggest indicators for the passage of time would be Conner Hawk, who's around 20 years old, and would have been born right before Oliver Queen became Green Arrow, who premeired at the same time as most of the other major DC characters.

I read The New Frontier. Its one of my favs as well. At first I thought it was going to be like Born Again in which there is so much hype from that book that leads to someone to tell me to read it because its great and a must have. And I did. But my reaction was that the book was okay, but not great (please don't fight me).

But this wasn't the case with this book. I liked it and I'm glad it will be animated. However, from the book to the movie, you can see or think what will be changed or altered for the movie version. I strongly believe it will be still the late '40s/early '50s but I believe there will be more of the Big Three. I could be wrong but, thinking back, I believe there wasn't enough of the big three compared with the other Silver Age born heroes. I think Timm will add more Superman & Wonder Woman and their conflict of views, maybe add Lois and little more Clark, and give more screen time of Batman (& Robin). Again, could be wrong.

But as I said; I liked it.

Checking the website, it looks like the Absolute edition will be released on November 8th. I don't know if I will get it though.

yeah, New Frontier didn't technicly have a main character, but the character with the biggest focus was easily Hal Jordan, followed by Martian Manhunter (IMO, maybe I just LIKED him the most) and then the attention is spread out between the rest of the DCU, and the "big three" are no more important than the Challengers of the Unknown

I actually thought that Connor was born well before Ollie became GA, back when he was a snooty, irrisponsible, womanizing ******* in college and not the badass, responsible, womanizing ******* he is today. Thus, I assumes Connor was about ten when Ollie became GA, and Ollie was a few years older than the other members of the League.

dunno, it's hard to pinpoint. Ollie is unquestionably older than most of the other league members, but I dunno by how much

I want to trade with someone who has the two NF trades,I want these desparately,I would ****e for these but that would mean cutting class
