Deadpool vs. Suicide Squad

SS has more marketing opportunity too being a team movie. With today's culture all about 24/7 new reveals and updates and so forth and there's not much new hype you can generate with new pics of Deadpool, whereas with SS they have lots more characters to discuss and reveal info and a pics about.

But yeah as long as they do enough to be successes the gross doesn't matter

Kick Ass I'd define as satirical and perhaps quirky not wacky. None of the characters were a loopy as Deadpool

Looking forward to Deadpool more. Dat Gina Carano:hmr::ilv:

Plus Reynolds is really passionate about this (not that the SS folks aren't). I want this to be a hit for him.

About SS, I love the director, Jared Leto and Margot Robbie, but Will Smith just brings it down a notch for me. If he has a performance like Seven Pounds or I Am Legend then I'm all for it (loved him in those). If it's After Earth, Hancock or MiB3, I'm throwing my shoe at the movie screen and walking out (No I really wouldn't do that)

I don't think either one is gonna be better than the other (unless we're just gonna measure how much money they make) since they're such vastly different movies and I'm absolutely stoked for both of them. But I've been following SS less (intentionally to avoid spoilers) and I really think it has the potential to be something special.

That being said, DP has been in development for years and also has the chance to be something totally fresh. Ryan and co.'s passion for this film is probably unparalleled, and I'm excited for that too.

All in all, it's hard to decide, I'll go with Skwad for now, but I know I'll enjoy both when they come out.

Am I the only one who predicts they'll both be failures? Deadpool looked alright, but it felt cheap, like the typical FoX-Men movies. It's crude humor also just isn't likely to appeal to critics, which in turn will hurt its box office.

Then there's Suicide Squad... Honestly, the trailer just looks boring. I actually think this one will be profitable... I just think it will be bad.

I think I'm more excited about Deadpool. I'll see both in theaters but other than Harley and Capt. Boomerang, I'm not excited to see the other characters in Suicide Squad.

Wacky, ultra-violent and the first one was directed better than a lot of blockbuster comic book movies.

Exactly, which is why I'm a little confused by comments I've seen about Deadpool breaking ground in the superhero genre with its R rating, humorous oddball tone, etc.

Still excited for the movie though, especially with the recent news about its 90's soundtrack.

It's not completely new (then again few things are), but certainly takes a step into real super powers compared to Kick-Ass and it ties into normal superhero movies of an existing franchise rather than being in it's own isolated bubble. I'd also say that it takes the oddball humor to a new level compared to Kick-Ass, which despite it's tone feels more grounded than many normal superhero movies.

I have no problems getting what people mean when they say that Deadpool represents something new.

I'll probably have to go with Suicide Squad. I'm hyped for Deadpool too, but not as much. It doesn't help that Hail, Ceaser! comes out the same weekend, and has eclipsed my anticipation for Deadpool.

Really this is a Deadpool vs Harley Quinn question for me.

I love them both but I enjoyed the Deadpool trailer much more than SS.

I think Deadpool will ultimately be a fan favorite while critics will be disgusted. SS will probably divide fans and critics due to the controversial Joker.

I'll probably side with Deadpool because it's supposedly true to the DP we love from the comics.

Suicide Squad, easily. I hope Deadpool will be fun but I'm not drooling over every piece of marketing that comes out like a lot of the hardcore fans seem to be.

Definitely SS for me. Finally get to see Harley and Joker on screen together. And Im more interested in the premise.

I think the real question Deadpool fans need to be asking themselves is, when was the last time you saw a Ryan Reynolds movie that was good? ;)

I haven't seen it but he has a movie that came out in this year that got a 89% on RT. Mississippi Grind.

Woman in Gold was good, I haven't seen Mississippi Grind yet but, like Mjolner said, it's supposed to be very good.

Mississippi Grind (2015), The Voices (2014), Safe House (2012) and Buried (2011) were all good. He usually has at least one good film a year.

Buried WAS really good, and I've heard Mississippi Grind is good. The Voices was... interesting but I'm still not sure I'd call the overall film good. I did enjoy Safe House. The Woman in Gold put me to sleep.

Anyway, in all seriousness, I'm pulling for him here but he does star in a LOT of critical and financial bombs.

Yes, his choice of movies is certainly worse than his acting talent. In the bad movies I've seen him in he hasn't been the problem though, so as long as Deadpool is properly written and directed I have no doubt it will be good.

I've never really liked him in anything I've seen to be honest, but this seems to be the perfect vehicle for him.

I'm more interested in Suicide Squad. Not a fan of Deadpool. I don't think the jokes will be for me but we'll see.
