December 2006 Sales Figures

DC must be so pissed that they still cant get the market share. I mean two JLA issues, JSA, no Civil War proper, ASM etc, and they still cant get ahead.

It does say something when DC can dominate the Top 10 sellers list in a non CW month (aside for a few tie-ins and one shots) and they still can't outsell Marvel in Dollar or Unit share. Burn. DC is SO SCREWED once 52 ends in the summer if they can't think of something else.

There is some positive news for some lower selling titles from last month, however, some of them only saw improvements in sales rank because Marvel had less CW clog, not because they got boosted on their own. ANNIHILATION moved up a few slots, and DR. STRANGE: OATH moved up I believe 2-4 slots from November. On the downside, IRON FIST #2, despite the lack of CW glut, fell from #52-#54 at issue 1 to #62 at issue #2. At that rate it may be selling in the 80's-90's by the 5th or 6th issue. And note that IREDEEMABLE ANT-MAN is nowhere to be seen in the Top 100, spelling inevitable doom for that quirky little book. Of course, even though I wouldn't touch it with a stick, UNCANNY X-MEN has been gaining steam for an incredibly rare and novel reason; no tie-ins, no crossovers, and very little advertising per month, readers simply like Brubaker's run. X-MEN: FIRST CLASS also moved up about 6 slots. There was no RUNAWAYS for December.

I don't mind USM #103 selling at #22, so long as that means people are buying all the copies they can so they can burn them in a bonfire.

And as a note, it seems a debut issue of a second X-23 series sells about as well as YOUNG AVENGERS used to. GHOST RIDER, a questionable relaunch, is still selling moderately in the Top 45.

No AGENTS OF ATLAS in the Top 100. Boo.

So, Marvel officially ends 2006 with an 11-1 month domination of sales. Bravo. I guess with numbers like that, much like the alligator, they see no need to adapt. Oh, well.

Ant-Man is selling at #123
Agents of Atlas #158

Blarg. Yeah, AGENTS OF ATLAS is a mini that ended (a little anti-climatically), but worth better than that. And ANT-MAN is one of the more interesting legacy characters and deserves way better. I'll have to enjoy it while it lasts.

THAT's why I don't get steamed when OMEGA FLIGHT is billed as a mini. Launching an ongoing is hard because even if you have an A-list creative team like IRON FIST, sometimes they fall through after 5-6 issues in terms of sales. Mini's have been on the rise for the past 2 years for that very reason. And in terms of IRON FIST you really can't blame Marvel too badly. It has an A-List creative team of Aja doing most of the art and Brubaker the top creditted co-writer; he's not Bendis, Millar, or Whedon but he's making steam with UNCANNY, DD, and CAP. IRON FIST supposedly gained some hype after donning the DD mask in CW tie ins. And #1 was advertised, and had WIZARD coverage twice, and it STILL couldn't debut in the Top 50. So, basically, even under the best climates, getting a new ongoing to hold steady sales for more than 6 months is hard and thus why so many comic launches are minis.

I'm glad you understand that, unlike others.

I'd make a comment, but I don't feel like getting into it with DP.

Ah, screw it.

Nice 6 out of 10 tho, DC. I wish Marvel's QUALITY titles did as well as their horrid titles did. :(

Your a pansy.

Nah, I just like DP and can't stand when we both stand on the same side of the fence yelling at each other. :p

Rain man, i thought we were passed this lol.

Why with the constant ass-kissage dude? No offence, just curious.

I have gotten into numerous arguments with people on this board, i dun see any ass kicking. Just because i choose not to be a souless dick, does not mean i kiss anything. you also came very close to a noob moment their.

You could of just said "I don't know" because that answer is just about as relevant to be honest.

Meh DC is struggling to keep up with Marvel with 52 on a week with no civil war books are out? They are going to get creamed once its over, it's a shame.

No, it isn't. Their solid books will still be solid. 52 is probably generating a ton of interest in DC right now. This is a good thing.

Rain man, i thought we were passed this lol.

Mostly past it, def-definitely past it. Paaasst it.

See how I conjugated the verb correctly there?!;)
