Just thinking about the actors that could be very hard to replace in the MCU. And wanted to see other opinions.

I think RDJ as Ironman is at the top of the list

Hugh Jackman as wolverine

Berenthal as The Punisher

J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson

Chris Evans as Captain America - Which is crazy because I thought it was a terrible casting choice.

Not saying everyone else isn't great but I feel these actors personified their respective characters the best and replacing them will be tough. Characters like Rhodes and even Bruce Banner haven't had the stand out performances that immediately cements that actor with that character.

One (or two) counter argument(s) to this is Professor X and Magneto.

Patrick Stewart is so definitive as the character of Xavier, I thought he could never be replaced, but Mcavoy came along and blew me away, he didn't do it "better" or necessarily much different, but because of how they approached it, made him extremely relatable and sympathetic without taking away from Stewarts portrayal. Same could be argued for both Magnetos.

However, if they were to attempt something like this for RDJ's Iron Man, it would just need to be done tastefully. Now, using the Time Stone to go back in time and have a young Tony Stark take his place might be a little bit copycat. But if they found a tasteful way to approach it, I'd be more than happy to see it happen.

Hugh Jackman. Ryan Reynolds. Patrick Stewert/James Mcavoy. J.K Simmons. Emma Stone. Samuel L Jackson. Bradley Cooper

RDJ plays a great RDJ but hasn't played Tony Stark since 2008 IMO

They nailed many actors.

Jackman,Cumming,Grammar,Stewart,Mckellen,McAvoy and Fassbender are all iconic imo. They are the reason I love the X-Men movies. Reynolds was great too.

Tobey Maguire was the perfect Spider-Man in the universe Raimi created. Dafoe and Molina were great foes.

Chris Evans is fantastic both as Cap AND Human Torch.

RDJ,do I need to add more?

Mark Ruffalo saved Hulk.

Chris Hemsworth is one of the most underrated in my book. He made a very hard character to pull off very relatable. Tom Hiddleston, nuff said.

Charlie Cox,Vincent d'Onofrio,Jon Bernthal were out of this world.

J.K Simmons is the Man. Emma Stone was one of the very few good things about ASM.

There are just too many of them!

I'd say it's more Iron Man 3 onward. I feel like in Iron Man, Iron Man 2, and the Avengers he really shined as Tony Stark. Then from there on out it felt more about making him quippy and snarky, but I do feel in Civil War he was handled pretty well. That's why I'm excited that the Russos are in charge of the Infinity War movies because they seem to have a good handle on the characters.

Civil War had my favorite RDJ performance as Tony Stark since the first Iron Man. He was fantastic in Civil War.

No mention of Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man? He fits right in as the definitive version of the character!

- Chris Evans made me like Captain America. Before TFA, I wasn't really interested in Cap but he really brought humanity and depth to the role. Charlie Cox is the PERFECT DD as well as RDJ, Mark Ruffalo, John Bernthal, Vincent d'Onofrio, Tom Hiddlestone, Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Paul Rudd, Krysten Ritter, Aaron Johnson (:csad:) and Samuel L. Jackson -- I wanna say Tom Holland, loved the energy and youth he brought to Spidey, it's what If feel has been missing from the past films. But we need to see Homecoming to fully judge his performance. Same with Chadwick Boseman. Casting is definitely one of Marvel's strong points.

- Tobey I feel, was great with the material he was given in the movies. But If you played the movie-based games, he could've really been the definitive Spidey. He pulled off the quips perfectly and oddly enough, his voice really contributed to the quips. Molina and Dafoe were also great and I feel Franco is slightly underrated, loved his Harry. Kirsten... Eh, I liked her in the first movie.

- Garfield... Sigh, where do I begin.. I feel like Webb approached the character the wrong way in trying to make him a rebellious teen. If you seen Garfield's other movies like 'Boy A', 'Never Let Me Go, even 'Social Network' He played a better Peter Parker in those movies. Ugh, he could've been fricking great. -- Dehaan I really liked his Harry, definitely reminded me of the post-GG era Harry from the comics. -- Stone was good but I don't care for the direction they took the character and I personally feel like her performance is slightly overrated, but she still did the best she could with the material she was given. -- Foxx could've made a great Electro if weren't written like Joel Schumacher villain and more like a real sociopath like Dane Dehaan's character in Chronicle.

- Hugh Jackman; need I say more?

I would partially agree with Emma Stone, if only for two things: Marc Webb making one of the weakest part of the Raimi films end up being one of the best parts of his films with Peter and Gwen's relationship through the writing and direction. That and since Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield were dating at the time, their chemistry comes off as more genuine. Though Gwen does some stupid things in Amazing Spider-Man 2, I liked her in the first film.

Chris Hemsworth is one of the most underrated in my book. He made a very hard character to pull off very relatable.

I don't think this one gets enough love. Hemsworth has done a tremendous job with this character. He has brought the sense of virtue, bravery, regal-ness, and occasional humor that Thor needs. He does all of this while also being physically imposing, allowing him to really embody the power of Thor. In my opinion, when Hemsworth's time is done as Thor, this character will be the most difficult to recast.

I need to see more. The potential seems to be there though.

Yeah, let's see him at least carry one movie the whole way through and nail it and see how critics and audiences receive it before we call it definitive.

Was he really good in Civil War? Yes. But he didn't have a ton to do either. Not to mention, when you get right down to it, you easily could've taken him out as well and the movie loses nothing.

If I had to pick just one, it wouldn't be Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark or Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. It would have to be J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson. He was just 100% spot-on perfect.

But Marvel, Sony and Fox have all cast some great choices, and some surprising choices that turned out better than expected. (I was not initially thrilled by Chris Evans as Captain America, but he really puts his heart into it.)

Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, the guys playing Xavier and Magneto, Kelsey Grammar as Beast.
Chris Evans as Captain America.
Chris Evans and Michael Chilkis in their roles in the 2005-2007 :ff: movies.
Robert Downy jr as Tony Stark comes close, he certainly is memorable in the role.

Hugh Jackman Wolverine
Ian McKellen Magneto
Patrick Stewart Xavier
Robert Downey Jr Iron Man
Chris Evans Captain America
J.K. Simmons Jonah Jameson
Rosemary Harris Aunt May

Wesley Snipes - Blade. He put a lot into the first two films with designing the weapons and bringing in his stunt/fight team to have some great action sequences.

That good one forgot about Snipes. Perfect as Blade. I also would say Kelsey Grammar was perfect for Beast.
