Recasting vs legacy characters?

Well, what's the point of keeping Stark around? He did nothing heroic in his last solo adventure. Not only that but he got rid of everything that made him Iron Man. That movie was an ending for a character. I don't even understand why he's in the next Avengers if he has rejected his suit. What's the point of him being in the Avengers without his suit? Nobody wants to see that but the same little kids and women who enjoyed Iron Man 3.

While it might seem weird, I think Marvel's practice of the ten year rolling back story is a far better move than constant reboots. Nobody is really going to care that Tony Stark has been in movies for 30 years yet never seems to clearly age, anymore than they care about James Bond not aging.

I don't care that Bond never seemed to age because, from Roger Moore to Pierce Brosnan, the movies were pretty much entirely standalone. It's not like I watched Goldeneye thinking, "This is the same guy who fought Dr. No in the early sixties," because that's patently ridiculous, whether or not that's what the filmmakers meant to sell me. Goofy Roger Moore and serious Timothy Dalton were the same guy? No. The series didn't canonically reboot for some weird reason, but I mentally rebooted on a regular basis.

I prefer the legacy route. We will get to see more of different characters and IMO that can only be a good thing.

Wait, you serious? You clearly missed the whole point of the movie. And saving oh I don't know, the POTUS, passengers on AF1, Pepper, countless others and stopping a madman that was about to have control of the White House in one hand and a terrorist organization in the other hand isn't heroic? gtfo
