On the spider-man 2 dvd, laura ziskin said:
",Everybody had spider-man movie in their head, but when the lights went down and the movie logos came up, we just had to hope that the people in the audience would accept Sam Raimi's vison of a spider-Man movie." or something to that effect.
Luckily, the spider-fans generally did.
However, it would appear that in the cases of both the 2005 and 2007 renditions of what a fanttastic four movie could or should be, people didn't go with Tim Story's vision (because it was more or less Tom Rothman's vision.)
If you were not pleased with that vison, list or describe how you would've gone about telling the story.

Heres mine.

-I would make the movie have some story structure with a decent begining middle and end that flow together.
-Develop Doom from an earlier standpoint, even if that means cutting the fantastic four's origin shorter
-Use the dialogue in the begining as a segway to learn more about the characters and their personalities, and make these personalities more 3-dimensional
-Develop Alicia and Ben's relationship, it would make the relationship in the sequel make more sense.
-Make the humor come from a more sarcastic place, (Joss Whedon-esque i guess) so the movie wouldnt be so dark
-Have Whedon write the script

I'm not a huge FF comic fan, so I really never formulated a film in my head, but I really loved Peyton Reed's retro take. It was very close to happening. I think that would have been amazing film. He actually grew up reading the comic and knew who the characters were.

I would go with an epic approach, more of an origin movie,I would establish Doom and his relationship with Reed.In my mind this would have to be at least 2 and half hours to make a great film.It would need a great unforgettable score, epic shots, great dialogue and character development...I would also have the Mole Man as the main villian,as I would want this film to concentrate on F4 trying to escape the Mole Man's layer after crash landing as well as them coming to grips with their new powers

For starters, I would save Dr. Doom for part 2 and not have him in the origin. Of course, I say this with the benefit of hindsight. If I hadn't seen how the first 2 films turned out, and it was up to me to write the script, I'm sure I would put Doom in there. But now (way too late) I see that he would be better off having a story all to himself.

So without Doom, I agree that Mole Man would make a cool first villain.

has anyone read the douglas petrie copy? that was amazing.
