Destroyer MAX

Haha, I thought the same thing upon seeing the article at Newsarama. Even the design looks similar enough to just be an older Drax.

It would be awesome if it were about Drax. As is i'll probably never touch this title.

They dont have any Max titles in space do they?

Marvel should get on that.

They don't have many MAX titles, period. Marvel doesn't seem to want to use it as a Vertigo-esque line for some reason. Sure, it'd be blatantly copying a formula DC figured out decades ago, but it'd still be awesome.

I think it's 'cause they're afraid of intelligently exploring other areas besides superhero comics. All their MAX titles have still been pretty closely tied to superhero comics or the action comic formula aside from Criminal.

Liked the Destroyer ever since Spider-Man TAS, but I'll pass on this.

I'll be getting it. I'm a sucker for Kirkman's writing, unless it involves X-Men.

I have no idea who the Destroyer is, but the concept of it being told as if the series had been going on since the 40's is so cool, I'm in.

The reason why MARVEL MAX will never be VERTIGO is because VERTIGO long ago was willing to abandon financial accolades if given a story that mattered to the art of the medium. Not that some Vertigo stories haven't sold well, but that sales aren't the biggest concern. And, yeah, they try to encourage writers not to play it so safe.

Marvel has never cared about the art of the medium, and only wants a hit. They also fear stepping out of their superhero shell. That probably comes as hypocritical from me, since I've never read many comics that weren't spandex yarns. But that doesn't mean I think those stories shouldn't exist, or that Marvel shouldn't publish them. Much as I hate chick flicks, but would think it silly for a studio to completely abandon them.

Still, I'm aboard this series, at least to give it a look.
