From Newsarama:

New Dimension Comics has acquired a newly discovered copy of Detective Comics #27, which features the historic first appearance of Batman.

“It’s nice to know it still happens”, says Todd McDevitt, owner of the Pittsburgh area 5-store chain. “It was the classic story of folks cleaning out an attic and uncovering something they thought might have some value. I was happy to be the one to tell them that they were right!”

Detective Comics #27, published in May 1939, is the 2nd most valuable comic book in the world with a near mint value of almost $500,000. This copy is in astounding shape with very minor edge wear, a light dust shadow, and a Siamese centerfold (meaning extra paper made it through the press during the printing process).

For more information, contact Todd McDevitt at 724-758-2324.

Yep. Some people are just plain lucky bastards.

You'd sell it? I don't know, maybe I'd sell it... I don't think I would right now. Narrow decision.

I wouldn't sell it immediately. I would stare at it for awhile.

I  Detective #27.

And yes, nothing quite says "lucky bastard" than being the owner of a comic book store chain, and having some people walk in with a Detective Comics #27 and asking if the issue might be of some value.

I'd sell it. Action Comics #1 I'd keep forever and ever and ever. I'd get rid of DC #27 at first chance just because A) I'd be scared ****less it would be gone, and B) doesn't hold that much value to me that I could pine over it for the rest of my life.

I'd keep it then sell it when i need to, i.e. student loans

There are none. You spend $500 on a one way ticket to Europe and you don't look back.

I'd sell that mo'facky like a pound of coke, dude.

What's so great about moving to Europe?

Apart from meeting me.

P.S. That guy looks like a murderer.

And here I was thinking he looked like a pedophile.

So I guess the most valuable comic in the world is Superman's first appearance?

So wait you find a $500,000 comic and you want to seel it they tax you for that ****?

Some people are just crazy lucky that way. My cousin called me one day to tell me of a guy he knows who was in the process of tearing down an old post office, and he looks down and finds a pretty nicely preserved copy of "X-Men #1." Just sitting there. It ended up in my hands thankfully...still don't know what I'm going to do with it in the end...I just randomly stare at it every now and then.

I would definitely sell it to pay off bills and with Detective #27 being reprinted every so often I can be happy with a reprint.
