DETECTIVE COMICS/Paul Dini run review thread

Benitez was on a Dini-penned ish? I don't recall it

oh yeah

that issue was kind of lame if I recall

but I remember sort of liking it even through the lameness

like, the part where Poison Ivy in Arkham, scared of plants

Yeah, that ended nicely. She's back at Arkham and freaks out when someone peels an orange next to her.

I hate Poison Ivy though. It's like, every issue, vines! Vines bounding Batman.

They're the new tentacle.
**** the Kuberts. They've been turning out **** for years. J.H. Williams III, I agree on though. His work is incredible.
I still like the Kuberts. Adam more than Andy now, I think. Unless I'm remembering them wrong. I just wish they could draw faster. It doesn't even look like their art should really take that long to draw.

Adam's the one who's doing Superman. I hate his art, now. Andy's doing Batman and his stuff is not as bad as Adam's, but it's nowhere near what it used to be.

I really think they should ditch their inkers and adopt the pencil-to-colors style. Their pencil work looks better than their inked work to me now.

Isn't that how Adam's Action has been? I thought so. Don't have the issues on me right now to check

Adam's art is straight from pencil to color. I think Andy's still using an inker.

Contrary to the general message board opinion, I much preferred Adam's Action to Andy's Batman

Adam's work just seems so half assed compared to what I'm used to him doing. Andy's does too, I guess, but not to the extent of Adam's.

I dunno, I haven't read much with either of their art previously. Origin is all I recall. Adam on that one? Can't remember.

Anyway I thought Andy's Batman stuff was really just subpar. Stilted, flat...awkward? I think I remember complaining about the coloring on it too.:csad: I've been happy with Adam on Action though. I dunno.

Yeah, couldn't Joe have named them, like, Bill and Peter or something? Much easier to remember who's who that way than with 2 A-names.

Anyway, I have a deep and abiding love for Adam's work because of the ungodly amount of ass he kicked on the Hulk issue right after Betty's death, where the contents of her will or diary or something are shown in really lush, dreamy, pencil-to-color sequences.

You mean "was"? 'Cause that **** I see in Action Comics is far from awesome.

That phantom zone stuff in Action looks like what Corp's describing.

Could be. You couldn't get me to touch Johns' ****ty Silver Age redux Superman with a ten-foot pole, so I don't have any recent Action Comics issues to check.

Next time you're at the shop check out the first few pages of #851

Well in my opinion, Williams' is THE artist for Batman. I swear his Noir style had me staring at the velvety folds of Batman's cape in some panels. He's art is awesome. A little OT but the colorist (for the Club of Heroes arc in Batman) gave some SOLID work man.
