Deus Ex: Human Revolution

I guess that is true. But I'd rather not run the risk of paying for something and then finding I can only play it in the graphics setting of 'pong'.

Can't say these shots make it look very flattering.

I remember the game looking better. Maybe they're running on less than the highest setting here.

I thought they looked alright at first. I was getting ready to go into my whole, "Aw, they look fine, you're just being too critical." routine, but after opening them up in a different tab, yeesh.

Based on those screens, the game does look a bit rough. Not terrible, but rough.

Though it could just be the lighting. These two screens seem to be uncharacteristically bright compared to most other screens and videos of this game.

the textures look really low-res compared to the gameplay footage.

I had the same reaction. Pixels in the wrong spot tend to make Uninspired freak out but yeah...

Those are not great.

I saw on the gametrailers forum people calling him a nerd for looking like the main character. It's sorta like attempting to call someone a nerd for looking like Johnny Depp or Christian Bale, not really much of an insult.
lol it's not as bad as making an well established and iconic character look like you cause you want your face in the damn game as another head developer is doing
and I'm talking about the man that made "Enslaved" and has his hands on a well know project title . lol just saying you habe to have a serious ego and be on a power trip for that.

But I did notice he looked like adam, on gt . but I didn't see the comments say he was a nerd. it must have been some time after I saw that . cause I read the comments then and though some noticed they didn't say he was a nerd. yet.

It doesn't look like it's using any ambient occlusion otherwise the edges would be dark.

Crinkly gun looks like no AA as well. They did show it running on Dx11 off screen, looks alright in motion. Hell even the console version looked decent.
These screens though, like the fellow on the forum was saying look near enough last gen.

Alot of artists use themselfs as models. I'm pretty sure Da Vinci did with some of his most famous works. I think the character looked great and sounded great regardless of the model. Rather that than this"Jersey Shore dude" pimpin his gun side-ways as Cliffy B put it.

It looked fine here.

The screens, at least the goons in them looked like something out of FEAR.

Well FEAR covered a lot of itself in blackness so its harder to really see all the bits that have aged really badly. The daylight sequences are rougher I find.

Though FEAR's real attraction, the gunfights and enemy AI, have all held up remarkably well and I think the game's still pretty moody during its scary bits. The particle effects after a firefight are immensely satisfying.

I loaded it up and played it before FEAR 2 was released and the latter was a pretty big disappointment.

Fear 2, uh. I think part of the visual charm with fear is a the hard darks (doom 3 also) os much in the same way as the hard inks in a comic book. Now games are more realistic they sort of lack that effect unless stylized.

Fear 2 is total gash imo. Gone are the awesome duel weiling pistols. The AI is dumbed down. When you go into slow-mo everything turns yellow like a lampshade is being flashed in your face. The guns have no kick (shoot someone with a shotgun in Fear and they basically explode) The physics are boring compared to fears over the top exagurated reactions. The blood looks like red paint. The UI is cluttered. Text messages instead of voice mail. It's like the developers didn't even have a basic comprehension of what made the first game so great or they made a list of tick boxes of "how to make the game worse".

I'm getting a very strong "Metal Gear" vibe from some of those screens.
