"Dexter" on Showtime

"You've done more to deserve my knife than anyone." -- Dexter Morgan

^^ i might beg to differ on that....Bats is not easily snuck up on...that and he has all those "wonderful toys"

not to mention they're essentially oon the same side :D

Dexter's prep-time and Batman's prep-time used against each other would force the universe to implode.

"Dexter" kills on Showtime

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - The series "Dexter," starring Michael C. Hall as a charming blood-splatter expert for the Miami Police Department who moonlights as a serial killer, drew 1.1 million total viewers to its Season 1 finale from 10-11 p.m. Sunday.

That figure represents a 79% increase from the show's debut episode at 10 p.m. October 1, which averaged 603,000 viewers.

A second airing of the hourlong episode at midnight Sunday drew 150,000 additional viewers.

The episode now stands as Showtime's single-most-watched original series since 2004, when Nielsen Media Research began reporting Showtime ratings separate from Showtime Plex. It also ranks as the most-viewed program -- original or theatrical -- of the year for the network.

"Dexter" also got good news last week with the announcement that Hall had received a Golden Globe nomination for best actor in a drama series.

In other cable ratings news.......

Yeah pretty good. Don't think it will get enough of an audience though for it to last.

See what thinking gets you.:cwink: :woot:

That just proves that, excluding myself of course, there are a lot of sick people out there watching TV.

It's good to see a really deserving show get high ratings, instead of Who Raped Me and other equally fascinating reality shows

What is Jerry talking about. And Mr. Dent? Whats who raped me? Is Jerry saying the sick people are Dexter fans?

I think it was a great first season. Although it doesn't follow the book exactly, the producers and writers did a great job with the series.

The last episode was great.

I like that he killed Brian and staged it so that it looked like suicide.

I Can't wait for next season.

I was still hoping it would be where Dex let brian go like in the book. Maybe this shows Dexter is more human than he thinks, that he does have feelings for Deb, and that bloodline doesn't matter, because he spent 30 years almost without "Biney." Can't wait until next season. Six months or more 2 go.

I'm glad he killed Brian, I wouldn't really have liked the second season also having focused on Dex and Brian. It's bad when shows focus on a story line for too long, and you just kinda lose interest in it, IMO.
I love where the show is going now, maybe focusing on the aftermath of the Ice Truck Killer for Dex, and bring my favorite side story, the Dex/Doakes story, in to the spotlight.

I don't think he made it look like a staged suicide, I vaguely remember someone saying something about "whoever did this......"

But did Dexters inner-monologues remind anyone else of Rorsach's journals??

man how are they going to top this season?

It won't be hard if they follow the general outline of the second book as far as the primary villian, I guess you would call him, is concerned. That sum***** puts Brian's murders to shame.

Really!!!! :yay:

Holy ****

Best news i've heard all day

Just read the second book. You'll find out. Although I'm pretty sure that the, uhh, "incidents" that take place in the second book probably have happened somewhere, I have never heard of it. Its really sick.

What's teh new one like:huh:

The old one was the bomb. I remember always pretending I had a giant lab with tons of high tech things under my room. I also used to wish I had a giant robot robot like he had.

What are they gonna do, follow each season as a book? What happens if there is no 4th book by the 4th season?

I'm guessing yeah. There is a third book due out late next year so if they continue at that pace, there will always be at least one book ahead of the show. But even if it doesn't work out that way, they have already beaten off the path of the first book considerably. they could just loosely base it off the events in the book like they have already. They seem to have a good sense of how to do it.

I was thinking that the first half of the second season would follow the first book, and then it would start off where the second book starrs, so you get to the end of the third season with two books, and the 4th season could start with the third book, and by the end of that season, there would be a 4th book if there is one.

?? How could they follow the first half of the book with the second season? Its already over. They basically did the first book in the first season, no parts from the second book except for the notion in the last season that Doakes will start following and watching him everywhere he goes.
