From AICN:
A while back, we learned that Leonardo DiCaprio's production company was developing a Gothic take on LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD alongside ORPHAN's David Leslie Johnson (details HERE).

Now comes word that a director has been found for that project: Catherine Hardwicke.

The "Twilight" helmer is signing on to Appian Way's "The Girl With the Red Riding Hood."

Werewolf movie, written by David Johnson, is a gothic retelling of the Little Red Riding Hood story, with a teenage love triangle at its center.

...says Variety HERE.

I can't decipher that. Is it going to be called 'The Girl With The Red Riding Hood' or 'Werewolf movie'! I assume the former :cwink:

Ugh, Twilight was a horrible movie, though the books are in part problem for that, the director didn't help. Sadly, even Twilight fans complain about this so I hear. However, I'll wait for it to get moving before I judge this, though the teenage-love triangle idea sounds really bad, gothic setting or not. That makes me think Red visiting her sick Gradnmother while she has a crush on the hot young "woodsman" and the wolf, or possibly werewolf, wants Red for himself. Where poor old granny fits in, I'll won't know for a while, but that's my guess.

When I first saw the title I thought Leo was playing little Red Riding Hood .

Could be cool though, if handled well. A lot of folks say that this tale has its roots in sexual morality tales, so if they exploit that it could be a really interesting movie.

There's a part of me who's kinda excited. I just don't think it'll go anywhere though.

Ooo, sounds really interesting! Hardwicke may not have done a great job with Twilight, but I adored Thirteen, so I know that she at least has potential to direct a great film.

First I got excited:
Leonardo DiCaprio
a Gothic take on LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD

But then I read:
Catherine Hardwicke (Though I really like Lords of Dogtown.)
a teenage love triangle

I'll stick with The Company of Wolves.

Amen. I wonder if the numb-nuts running Hollywood now even know this has been done before, and done extremely well.

If Scorsese were directing...:csad:

If you like one of her films then why would you be disapointed?

I really wish she didn't direct Twilight. Now my vison of her as a director is ruined :(

I do love the idea of a gothic/darker Red Riding Hood. I've actually been trying to draw some character designs for a story like this.

I doubt it. I love The Company of Wolves. Such great, creepy atmosphere.

wouldve sparked my interest if dicaprio was playing the little red riding hood.
