Big names doesn't mean quality.

That's not what I meant. Big names will join a project for three reasons: money, talent involved, and script. This isn't a big budget flick, so I doubt anyone is getting big bucks for their work. Catherine Hardwicke isn't exactly a popular filmmaker. No one is flocking to work with the chick who did Twilight. So, really, all we have left is the script. If Leo DiCaprio, Amanda Seyfried, Gary Oldman, and Julie Christie wanted to do this movie it's because they read the script and thought, "hey that's pretty good." So, we should give this film the benefit of the doubt. It may suck, but hey, let's watch it before we judge.

DiCaprio is producer on this film, he's the one who set the project up. He may have had a big hand in getting the director of Twilight.

the trailer did nothing for me sadly :(
i'm assuming the twist will be she's the wolf or her bf is

I think the word you're looking for is "gothic horror". Sleepy Hollow and The Wolfman were both that, and the RRH poster is very gothic horror, but the trailer is not so much, there are some shots, but overall it looks more fairy tale-ish.

Other recent gothic horrors: Black Death, Sauna, Shadow of the Vampire, Sweeney Todd.

They were the big thing back in the 60s and 70s with Hammer Horror and Italian horror.

Not quite. I love gothic horror. Shadow of the Vampire was terrific. And Sweeney Todd is one of the best movies in the last ten years, IMO. Burton's best film after Ed Wood.

But Walker had a specific formula he created for Sleepy Hollow and resued for The Wolfman.

And that is that he takes a famous gothic character (Headless Horseman, the Wolfman, and Red Riding Hood/Big Bad Wolf in this film) and reimagines the story around it. He turns it into a murder mystery of either a) Who is the monster or b) Who is controlling the monster? And that allows him to rework the plot as a mystery with a lot more sexual tension and subplots of a superstitious town and things of that nature.

Sweeney Todd, Shadow of the Vampire, Interview with the Vampire, Coppola's Dracula, etc. did not have these elements. I'm pretty sure the screenwriters or studio that made Red Riding Hood paid attention to what they thought worked in Sleepy Hollow, which conicidentally was the same formula used for The Wolfman by the same script writer.

Not that that means Red Riding Hood is bad. I'm hoping it will be great.

Although the trailers said from the directors of twilight, I am still intrigued.

But I know it won't be amazing. I place bets on a pretty good flick.

Ah, I see. From Hell would count, I guess.

feels way to overdramatic... i mean just in the trailer that girl and wolf had sex in like five different places... just in the trailer. If they can do it that much in three minutes... how much could they do in 2 hours? 0_0

What crazy tailor makes 12 foot long capes?

Is this movie going to be R or PG-13. I have only learned about it the other day when I saw the trailer in front on Harry Potter 7.

in the trailer it doesnt look R.

i think Pg13.

I like Amanda Seyfried and Gary Oldman, but the trailer didn't get me interested in this movie, and the giant disclaimer about the "Director of Twilight" actually has negative effect on me. I might check it out when it's available on DVD, however.

Since when is there so much sex/love in red riding hood? What does this have to do with her grandma?

I like her hood"..thats about it. my gf and i saw the trailer when we saw "little fockers" I gave a little sigh and  to it,my girl grabs my arm and says "we need to see this"

This must be Grandma's house.

I know. Kind of looses the "Red Riding Hood as a symbol of virginity" from the original story.

Trailer #2.

Hey it uses NIN's "The Hand That Feeds"!

Minor pet peeve, but alot of them look really scantily dressed for winter.

Rorschach proved you don't have to dress much in cold weather. :D

This film does look good. I will give it that while they used the whole "Twilight" angle.
