The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Did anyone like ASM2 better than Cap2 & DOFP?

ASM2 is kinda like Batman Forever in a way. It's incredibly frustrating because there is a great movie lurking somewhere underneath the **** ton of crap.

Is it okay if I say that I think DOFP and TWS are better but I'd rather watch TASM2?

Wouldn't preferring to watch one movie over another indicate you like said movie more? Hence wanting to watch it over something else?

Difference knowing something is a better movie but you just enjoy something else. Like you know Citizen Kane is better but you'd rather watch Ace Ventura.

That's the kinda thing I could never understand. If you enjoy a movie better, doesn't that mean you like it more?

I mean, say your favorite movie is The Mask.Does that mean you're obligated to list every movie that was more critically acclaimed?

"I love the Mask.But......I fully realize Citizen Kane,Gone With The Wind,The Godfather,The Godfather part II,The Deer Hunter,Blade Runner,Good Will Hunting,The Dark Knight........

(Two hours later).......were all better crafted, critically appraised, examples of the motion picture."

lol.

With certain people on this board, you almost think you should have to do this at the end of every post.

See, I am of two minds on this. On one hand, I think a film like The Avengers shouldn't be penalized like it is for being "mindless" anymore than the original Star Wars or Raiders of the Lost Ark, and many other action/Sci-Fi classics that are considered classics but are fun films that lack substance. But at the same time, while I may have seen say Iron Man 3 more times in my life than, say, The Elephant Man, I do think The Elephant Man is a much better movie, even though I may not always be in the mood to be depressed. Maybe that is the filmmaker in me coming out, I don't know, but I don't think there is a right or wrong answer in this debate.

Subject vs object. There is a very kantian debate going on here. :D

Though this doesn't directly apply to ASM 2, there are plenty of bad movies I enjoy watching more than critically acclaimed ones.

Likewise. ASM2 just happens to be one of those bad movies that failed to satisfy me.

Really though, I think more of us can say the same than we tend to let on, but tensions and pride seem to run high when it comes to this stuff, especially around release time.

Then again, the more prideful fans that take ownership in the things they like seem to have bigger hangups about this sort of thing. Seems like every movie featuring a character with a fan following is hailed as the best thing ever nowadays.

I haven't seen DOFP yet, but I greatly prefer ASM2 over CA:WS. I really enjoyed the new Cap movie, but like all of the MCU films (thus far), it was a very safe, "paint by numbers" film which is getting extremely tiresome to me (I'm holding out hope for GotG). ASM2 isn't without it's problems, but it was a far more enjoyable film for me, for many reasons (acting, characters, emotional impact, action, cinematography, CGI, action).

The two biggest let downs for me with CA:WS were the Peggy Carter romance of the first movie being downgraded to a single scene with no emotional weight behind it which is criminal; as well as that horrid bunker scene. God...and people thought Kafka was cheesy?!

So TASM3 will be the Batman & Robin then.

Well TASM1 copied Nolan's Batman, TASM2 felt like Shoemaker's Batman. Makes sense TASM3 feels like Burton's Batman. Maybe the next Spidey film after that takes from Adam West's Batman and the film after that takes from Ben Affleck's Batman.

Yea Spidey showing up just at night and running across a city of 10 ****ing million hoping to find the one that killed his Uncle doesn't scream dark or gritty...

The only scene that reminded me of Michael Bay was the very final Rhino clip, that's all.
