I got into a very inane argument with my friend about how all movies with a plot have a theme or some kind of message, it might not be the focus but there's a plot. Anyway with Tallahaga Nights I argue that the point of movie is Will Ferrel just overcoming his own demons and his past, but of course the movie suppose to be funny, but none the less it's there... Is Tallahaga Nights void of any meaning and any plot or in the background is it there.

I think the theme went something like this..

"If you dont chew Big Red....**** YOU!"

i think the movie could have not been a comedy and still made plenty of sense.

boy becomes driver to impress deadbeat dad, boy grows up to be the best (albeit most arrogant) driver, someone better comes along, beats him, deadbeat dad takes in broken son and shows him how to be a real champion. some friends become enemies... some enemies become friends.

i think my favorite was during the outtakes at the end, the first or second one for a life insurance company (or maybe funeral home)

"98% of people will die at some point in their lives"
