Interesting thing I noticed. Since the PZ has opened up, the odd volume of meteor freaks has dwindled considerably.

Now that the majority of villains are coming from the PZ the stupid meteor freak stuff can be abandoned hopefully for good  Thus making Clark more special as he should be.

Also the PZ villains can be more diverse and have powers that don't have to be scientifically explained through friggin kryptonite.

This is an advantage to that story line being used imo

PZ villains rock on... FOTW METEOR MORONS stay gone!
:word:

I don't understand. whats with all the dashes and underscores? So it's like when power rangers started using the ozze bird things rather puddies?

No.

Didn't you pay attention in Justice? Lex Luthor is gathering them all up across the world and building an army.

He's experimenting on some but I haven't seen any new ones though  Unless we assume any new ones were taken before Clark saw them.

Yes. Ollie said that Luthor is building 33.1 facilities across the world anywhere 'people with abilities' have been rumored...just because we don't see them and just because Clark doesn't fight them doesn't mean they're not around. They're everywhere...just not in SV (at least at the moment).

smallville forums is starting to remind me of ludo fans

Yeah I see what you mean. Oh well at least we don't have to see them for now

Why the hostility? It's an honest question. I thought I was on the sternfannetwork for a second there....:o

ps I applaud the PZ freaks if they take out the opposing team. It would be a good way to end that particular loose noose.

Not really sure if that's true;
Zod - No Freak
Sneeze - Can't remember if it had a meteor freak, but it definitely didn't have a Zoner, so I'm going with a freak
Wither - Zoner
Arrow - Can't remember if a freak was involved, no Zoner though
Reunion - Freak
Fallout - Zoner
Rage - Can't remember if a freak was involved, Ollie's 'roids were probably made with Kyrptonite (again can't remember)
Static - There was a Zoner, but the freak was the main story
Subterranean - Freak
Hydro - Freak
Justice - All about Lex building an army of freaks
Labyrinth - Zoner

So since the Phantom Zone appeared we've had 4 episodes with Zoners, one of those was more focused on a meteor freak, while 3 episodes were definitely freak-centric and that's not counting Static and Justice, both of which could be considered freak-centric as well. So it doesn't look like the freaks are gone yet.

Well, anytime anyone in the show is going through something extra ordinary, they might be considered a freak of the week.

In Rage, for example, Oliver was probably the freak since his problems were caused by kryptonite-laced drugs.

I usually like the freaks. *shrug*

For me, there's a lot more that goes into deciding whether an episode is "good" or "bad" than just the presence of absence of a freak, of any kind.

True, some of the best episodes of the series were actually "freak" episodes....

Transference. Clark and Lionel were the "freaks"...

Blank, there was a freak, but Clark was one too....

The Ryan episodes were fantastic and in Rosetta Clark again was probably the freak...

Freak doesn't necessarily equal bad.

*shrug*

Sometimes they can be very, very good actually.

You mean we're not supposed to use a black and white rule to decide if we like it or dismiss it? We actually have to watch the episode and use our brains??

;)

suuuuuuuuure, your avy envy is just that bad.........;)

That was actually before I had avy envy, but I'm not above it now that I am aware. :p

I guess I categorize freak of the week as meaning a character that has a kryptonite based power in which Clark defeats them and you likely only see them in that one episode. Aquaman is not a fotw nor is Bart, their powers don't derive from kryptonite. Oliver can't be a fotw because he was established for a multiple run of episodes. In one of those he happened to get strength from a kryptonite based injection, but he appeared in episodes before that and since. So he can't be a fotw because he's been established as a guest regular. Hope that clears it up.

I personally don't mind the FOW formula. First off, they give Clark baddies to beat up.

Second some are well thought out.

I mean sure, they have had duds, but others have been really good: Ryan, Alicia, Mindwipe man from "Blank", T1000 from "Hidden", Bugboy Arkin, Jitters man, among others.

For me the formula makes the show entertaining. It's no different than Star Treks Alien of the Week, Buffy's Vampire/Demon of the Week, The OC's Sex romp of the Week....you get my drift.:oldrazz:
