Homecoming Did we need the origin in The Amazing Spider-Man

I think it was an effort to outdo the original trilogy, so they were attempting going similar but different routes in order to stand out and make a better impression to their predecessor.

For the parents plot to work you probably did need to have his origins redone, if they didn't do the parents plot which I can honestly see why they did they probably could have done it without the origins or at least with flash backs but then people may have seen this as a loose sequel to the Raimi films rather then a complete restart, that and you would have to make it flow well with the flash backs and also depending how much time you needs to do the flashbacks

In the end I don't think its as simple as that, it really depends what was best for the story

But at the same time maybe They could have been attempting a batman begins with it to make a more grounded approach for the origin with abit more detail put in, and then the avengers made even more then the dark knight series and Sony said ohhhhhhhhh :sus

I think most people would be very happy if they didn't do the parents plot.

It's apparent to me that the only reason they attempted the parents story was to make this series different from the first series. That's why they went with the whole "Untold Story" tagline, which funny enough ended up being a bunch of BS. They didn't even do anything interesting with the story either. It just comes off as being different for that sake alone. IMO, not a good way to start a series of films. Instead of being something that liberated the movies to a higher degree of creativity, they ended up trapping themselves into a corner--gotta resolve that parents plot.

I think its fair to say what originally was gonna happen with the parents story probably got changed and mixed into the sinister 6 plot and has now become a small piece of a bigger puzzle, its doubtful that was always the intention

While the mystery of the parents story was probably gonna span out 3 films they obviously realised the bigger picture was in the sinister 6 and that become the big tease for what's to come rather then stuff like "did you tell the boy what happened to his father"

And really They needed to give the reboot it's own identity so I don't blame them for originally going the route they did, it's very obviously they had to do something different otherwise what's the point of just doing the same thing again as either way you still had to give it its own direction, and you also don't wanna make it look like a loose sequel to Raimis films and also need to give enough time to show the origin
