Stealing this idea from the Academy Twitter account, but...

And mine is going to be the same here as it was there: David Lynch’s Edward Scissorhands/Tim Burton’s Mulholland Drive

Terry Gilliam's Charlie and the chocolate factory / Tim Burton's Brothers Grimm.
Already back then, it felt like they had switched films.

Then we go with something unexpected
Woody Allen's Transformers / Michael Bay's Annie Hall
Roland Emmerich's Pulp Fiction / Quentin Tarantino's Independence day

Then some 80s stuff
Ivan Reitman's Poltergeist / Tobe Hooper's Ghostbusters
John Landis' Back to the future / Robert Zemeckis' Blues brothers
Joe Dante's 48 hours / Walter Hill's Gremlins
Richard Donner's Blade Runner / Ridley Scott's Goonies
Steven Spielberg's Terminator / James Cameron's ET
Stanley Kubrik's Nightmare on Elm street / Wes Craven's The shining
John Carpenter's Karate kid / John G Avildsen's Christine
Oliver Stone's King of comedy / Martin Scorsese's Platoon
Francis Ford Coppola's Hairspray / John Waters' The outsiders

That’s a fun idea.

taika waititi does Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Mike Newell does Thor Ragnarok

Raimi on Batman would be fun, because I can easily see him leaning into a horror element.

Nolan on Spider-Man, though... hard to imagine.

Guillermo Del Toro's The Hobbit
Peter Jackson's Crimson Peak

A bunch here.

Many of them make totally sense, when thinking about it.
A few are half and half for fun.

George Miller's Total recall / Paul Verhoeven's Mad Max 2
Steven Spielberg's Superman / Richard Donner's Indiana Jones
Francis Ford Coppola's Batman / Christopher Nolan's Apocalypse now
Peter Jackson's Wonder Woman / Patty Jenkins' Braindead (lol on that one)
Peter Hyams' Green Lantern / Martin Campbell's Operation Outland (Bond related switch)
Oliver Stone's Captain America / Joe Johnston's Born on the fourth of July
Terry Gilliam's Batman / Tim Burton's Brazil
JJ Abrams' Avengers / Joss Whedon's Star Trek
Wachowski's Spaceballs / Mel Brooks' Matrix
Wes Anderson's Wild at heart / David Lynch's The grand Budapest hotel
David Cronenberg's Seven / David Fincher's The fly
Rob Reiner's T.S. Spivet / Jeunet's Stand by me
Richard Linklater's Margot at the wedding / Noah Baumbach's Boyhood
Michael Mann's Untouchables / Brian de Palma's' Heat
Peter Jackson's Star Wars / George Lucas' Meet the feebles (guess why!)
Wolfgang Petersen's Moulin Rouge / Baz Lurhmann's Troy
Cameron Crowe's Elephant / Gus van Sant's Almost famous
Joel Schumacher's Sleepers / Barry Levinson's The client (or... Falling down would be even better)
Ang Lee's Face-off / John Woo's Chrouching tiger hidden dragon
Robert Rodriguez' No country for old men / Coen's Machete
Tim Burton's Ninth gate / Roman Polanski's Sleepy hollow
Lars von Trier's Reservoir dogs / Tarantino's The house that Jack built

Saw title.

Saw OP.

Was hoping for more sex.

Was disappointed.

...

:o

John Boorman's CONAN THE BARBARIAN/John Milius' EXCALIBUR.

Potentially sacrilegious:

George Miller’s Man of Steel/Zack Snyder’s Fury Road

I think it would make a world of difference where MOS is concerned, and while Fury Road would lose a bit of technical proficiency, I don’t think it would be super far off from the actual final product.

Eh, maybe I’d put Snyder on the original Mad Max, just to be safe...

Quentin Tarantino CA: First Avenger
Joe Johnston Inglorious Bastards

Christopher Nolan Avatar
James Cameron Interstellar

Matt Reeves Man of Steel
Zack Snyder Apes

Jon Favreau SW: TFA
JJ Abrams Iron-Man

Christopher Nolan’s The Aviator (which is to say, the Howard Hughes movie he’d always intended to make before the actual Aviator dropped)

Martin Scorsese’s (very tempted to put him on a Batman movie, but...) Memento
