Director's Cut in theaters for July

I still have no idea what the diff is between Ultimate Edition and Directors Cut.
Can someone explain it to me?

Is this still happening in July?

I doubt that the DC is going to get a theatrical release because Zack said it was only going to be released theatrically if the original cut did good in theaters and so far its looking like a "bomb" in the U.S. (even though I liked the movie alot).

The Director's Cut is the original 3 hour, 10 minute cut that Snyder put together. It's all the live action footage.

The Ultimate Edition/Cut is the Director's Cut, but now with the TALES OF THE BLACK FREIGHTER intercut with the film. That will run at 3 hours, 25 minutes.

I see. I thought the Directors Cut would have the Black Freighter in it, but I guess it makes more money to do it this way...

But my real concern now is... Black Freighter only adds 15 minutes to the Directros Cut edition???

oh great now I have to get the directors cut and the "ultimate" edition lol

I don't think I'll get the BF with it. I don't know if that can work in a film or not intercutting like that. I'm fine the the extended cut on its own.

Aaawwwww is that all :yay:.

This film did not need to be any longer than it already was ... it started to seriously drag in parts when translated to film narrative.

Why would it add any more? It's not that long.

Because as far as I know the Tales of the Black Freighter is 30 minute's long.
So unless they are cutting pieces of it, it's going to add more than 15 minutes.

I thought Snyder or someone said that they expanded the Black Freighter story. The parts from the comic to film add up to about 15 minutes but they made it longer. I thought I heard it somewhere. Hurm.

it's 25 minutes long, and at least 5 of that is credits.

When it comes to the Ultimate Edition DVD, I just hope we don't get the same treatment TDK 2-disc DVD got.

THE BLACK FREIGHTER is 15 minutes. But there are also cut scenes in and out of it with the Bernies and Rorschach without his face that will likely add about 10-15 minutes more.

Im happy to hear that, that was the one thing i thought was missing, more Rorschach without his face on. would of made his unmasking a real WTF NO WAY moment

Well, it wouldn't of been that much of a shock. He has the same voice when he doesn't have the mask on.

I wouldn't worry about that. Zack Snyder has promised us a fully-loaded special edition. He's not one to skimp out on extras like Chris Nolan. That's Nolan's one flaw, IMO.

What did the TDK 2-disc dvd get?
Jack **** in regards to bonus features. Quite a shame, actually. The Blu-ray wasn't much better. I really hope that we get an ultimate edition of TDK in the near future. It's sad that such a great film had such underwhelming special features. It made me long for the glory days of DVD, like the "Lord of the Rings" extended versions and the "Terminator 2" ultimate edition. Luckily, Snyder knows what the fans want.

Well I'm glad I haven't purchased TDK double disc edition yet. Ya, I hope the 'ultimate' watchmen dvd has a cholkful of special features. Looking forward to the directors cut this summer too.
:ikyn

I'm pretty sure we won't have to worry about the quality of the dvd. Its going to be amazing*

It's 20 minutes long. And Snyder has extended it, so it works as a standalone narrative. It's my guess that Snyder's only going to use the bits derived directly from the comics, hence only the 15 minute increase from Director's Cut to Ultimate Cut.

It just occured to me, what if they call it "The Absolute Edition"?
