The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Director's Cut

Was there a cut where this movie wasn't a steaming pile of garbage?

An even more frightening and gruesome Goblin transformation I am all for seeing, but alternate Gwen Stacy deaths sounds stupid seeing as we got a pretty comic book accurate death minus Norman being the one to toss her and it being at the clock tower, but the way Peter caught with the web, the clothes she wore, and Peter crying out over her death... heartbreaking stuff. Kudos to Webb!

But the only scenes I would like to see are Harry going after the Oscorp board members and Max Dillon and his mother. Wasn't there a rumor he kills his mother as Electro too because she forgets his birthday or is that false? The extended scenes of Harry and Peter discussing 'the question of the day' wouldn't make sense seeing as then Harry would know Peter is Spider-Man earlier, but you can't tell me that Donald Menken or Norman himself had footage of Peter getting bit that they archived.

As though those are menial details that can be easily swapped out or disregarded. lol.

"Well, it was pretty pretty much nothing like the comic from the antagonist, character motivation, storyline, setting, etc... but Gwen's clothes were the same! Comic accuracy FTW!!!!!"

That's funny, because the audience seem to like it according to those sites.

I really hope we get this the movie was already really good second best spider man movie yet but I would love to see the extended goblin fight and some of the other things.

Seems like there was a lot cut:

1. Norman's head
2. "We have plans for you, Peter Parker" - from trailer
3. "Isn't that the question of the day" - Peter and Harry discussing Oscorp spying on Peter - from trailer
4. "I once told you secrets have a cost, well the truth does too" - Aunt May from trailer
5. Longer Goblin battle scene

There is more that I am forgetting that we either heard about (i.e. #1 and #5) or were in the trailer (#2, #3, #4), which were cut. I am actually most surprised that the stuff from the trailers were cut, since some of those lines (i.e. #2) were in almost every single trailer!

Indeed. We don't have to think for ourselves because the critics do that for us!

I'm happy with the final cut - though would like to have deleted scenes included on the DVD/Blu-ray as special features.

That's why RT exists. So people who are incapable of original thought can be told what to like and what to dislike.

The only two I care about seeing are Green Goblin going after the Oscorp board members and maybe seeing Max Dillon's mother and the possibility of him murdering her. But it would be nice to include the 'Secrets have a cost' line but I'm trying to figure out how Norman's "We've got plans for you, Peter Parker" line would fit into the movie.

Sure, it would be shocking to have Peter hear the message on his cellphone or whatever, but that line could easily be brought into the third film.

Rather have a SM3 extended cut. A longer cut won't change Max Dillion's god awful scenes or stupid motivation, Giamatti's cringe-inducing scenes, [BLACKOUT] Richard Parker testing the Spider DNA on himself :cmad: [/BLACKOUT]...or any of the terrible things put into this film.

A SM3 extended cut wouldn't change any of the things that made that film bad.

Venom in the mirror. Eddie going to Gwen's house, seeing Marko's Police report, The alternate team-up with Flint making himself into a giant sandcastle, and Venom would kidnap Sandman's daughter, forcing him to fight - thereby deleting that plothole. MJ gives her forgiveness speech to Harry- and the butler tells harry about Norman, Harry has no clue wether or not its in his head, or Bernard was really there. Marko's daughter stopping him at the final battle, and the resolution.

All of that would improve SM3 by a wide margin. Add in more footage to The Meh Spider-Man 2, and we just have more scenes of an terrible Max Dillion and more "Oscorp is teh evil!!!!"

I think that's the point.

For as bad as many of us found SM3 to be, it was much better than TASM 2 still. Hence, you'd rather see an extended cut of it than this fiasco.

I don't know about anyone else, but that's getting old already.

When I think about it, there are other franchises that have villain factories as well, most notably Bond with SPECTRE and now Quantum (I guess?), but the difference is that they manage to execute it more gracefully.

The integration of Oscorp in this franchise has been very clumsy and haphazard, and the whole angle tying his dad and his very own origin into it just makes it worse. There had better be a shockingly fantastic conclusion to this whole Oscorp drama, but after seeing how poorly the extended plot threads have been fleshed out, I'm not holding my breath.

No, I actually like Spidey 3. I'd just like the bad parts to be fixed with the unused better parts.:cwink:
