Directors hyping their movie.....has it ever worked out well ?

i dont remember favraue talking how awesome hes movei is or good everything looked. he talked like an inteligent guy who is happy that is doing the movie.

Where did i say that Favreau was talking about how awesome his movie is.
Favreau is a guy who has a MYSPACE page , who's posting on Twitter. He's far more connected to geeks then someone like say Chris Nolan.
Fans would often ask his stuff about how he was handling Iron Man etc, and he'd give then answers.
That's what i was saying about Favreau. Because he's more open to his fans , his comments create expectations . He's not saying "OMG IRON MAN 2 is teh AWESOME " , but rather comments like "May 1: "Wrecking the joint. Not much left of the set. Broken stuff everywhere. Should look cool on screen."

That definitely turned out well.

Hell i'm a big big matrix fan and althought the wachowski's never talk to the press , they got Joel SIlver to promote the matrix movies.


Then you have guys who have a relative low media profile and ultimately wind up making some of the best movies of late.

Chris Nolan when he made TDK.
Gore Venbinski when he made the POTC movies.
JJ ABRAMS when he made Star Trek.
Spielberg when he makes all his movies

The only director i can think of who really talks just how awesome his movie is and in 95 % of the cases it actually turns out to be awesome is ...you guessed it Michael Bay

I don't think anyone had to get Joel Silver to do anything, that guy never shuts his mouth. In fact right now he's walking to his car and talking about a movie that he's producing and nobody is around him.

Chris Nolan might've been silent but that viral marketing campagn was the best ever done and was everywhere.

I don't consider the Pirate's movies good and Gore isn't exactly well-known to the average person.

JJ was all over the place talking about Startrek

I don't think it has anything to do with the director of the movie running his mouth, Apatow is all over the place promoting every movie he's involved with as a director and producer and his movies do just fine.

Rodriguez stayed low key on Planet Terror.

nothing wrong with hyping a movie you've spent years of your life working on...
its deserved.

and its nice to see directors that care for their work.

now if they say its gonna be the best movie ever thats a different story lol
