A lot of Americans do seem to have a lot of cognitive dissonance, to believe that education needs to be strong and the national government should, needs to push for that, make it better and also at the same time to believe that education is, should be at least primarily be local issue.

I'm in favor of federal oversight because I'd hope that would mean that education would be more or less the same no matter where you are. Sadly that really hasn't been true. I just hate the idea that black and brown kids should suffer just because they live in poor counties or cities. We should be lifting them UP not pushing them into crap jobs with slave wages.
