Discussion: Global Warming and Other Environmental Issues

I found Realclimate's commentary on HARRY_READ_ME incredibly half ass and presumptive. I expected better spin than that. Which leads me (to continue) to believe that is the biggest problem of the leak.

ok then....so wouldn't it primarily be the responsibility of the UK authorities then and not the White House or any US authorities??

Yes, but the idea is that perhaps there have been underhanded dealings and manipulations on an international scale.

I think.

I'm sorry, but when you repeatedly mention that "millions" of people have been killed as a direct result of this supposed "fraud," it's really hard not to assume you're talking out of your ass. Happen to have a source for that?

Well...the pro-fraud crowd is now big on "common sense" instead of proof...so here's some pretty obvious common sense.

New laws are forcing corn supplies to be used as oil, in a horribly ineffective scam. That corn, if not used for oil, could be used for food. many places have food shortages. People die without food. You know what...nevermind...itll never make sense to you.

Again...the environmentalists are good people. However, when the science is bad, and people are making trillions of dollars and dangerous and deadly laws are being passed...

It is GOOD to want to clean up the planet. It is NOT GOOD to kill the credibility of a good movement just because you dont want to throw some scam artists under the bus.

Actually, ethanol production may not depend on corn for much longer. Cellulosic ethanol is an amazingly viable alternative that is becoming more advanced all the time. It won't have to sacrifice food for fuel.

Secondly, I'm not "pro-fraud."

Finally, **** you for that last comment. You still have yet to provide proof that those policies have directly led to deaths. You ARE talking out of your ass.

I beleive that Global Warming exists, so whooha! But anyway, if a couple scientists lied that doesn`t mean all the other scientists are lying!

What do you mean a couple??? These were the scientists in charge of supplying the UN with their numbers, which other scientists use as their official data. And it was way, way more than a few...three continents have had top scientists fired or under investigation.

I read 1 page of this thread and decided ``****, you fuys are crazy`` :p

But really, you have to know that there is a danger of climate change. right?

Climate change???

That is now being defined as "summer shouldnt exist and neither should winter" Climate Change spokespeople are basically saying that a windy day is climate change, a day without rain is climate change, and so is a day with rain.

The answer is always the same...TAX TAX TAX...send the central bank your money so we can fund global governance.

And if you dont believe that the financial crisis and the global warming scam arent steps towards global governance then you are insane.

That sentence literally makes no sense. In any context.

So...you're insane. By your own reasoning. Awesome.

Copenhagen Accord this December being signed gives an unnamed UN Body the power to intervene in the economic, financial and environmental affairs of nations who sign on, including the whole issue of carbon taxes (as a means of wealth redistribution). Some see this as a sign of giving up sovereignty.

Obama is signing on, so we get the privilage of being taxed more in the middle of a giant recession. "Awesome" (heh).

Okay, then I'll ask my second question, since it seems to apply: What's the big deal about a global government?

Why is "awesome" in quotation marks?

One thing is for certain, there will be new regulations in my new Earth as to who can reproduce. We don't want anymore idiots running around.

The money you siphon out of people through taxes, could be better used by them on energy efficient or re-usable goods. This would be a boon for companies in those fields too.

I also loathed it when Al Gore did his Live 8 or whatever concerts and the expended so much gas with his jets (along with his cohorts). His "get out of jail card" was to buy carbon credits. Like some video game cheat code. **** that ****.

I just hate the logic of carbon credits. So economically counter-productive.

What justifies it? Basic economics show it is more difficult to deal with bigger scale things due to greater amounts of information. Reducing it to more local levels allows things to run more smoothly (while not always perfect it is better).

Of course it's easier to do things on a smaller scale. I wholeheartedly agree with you, but I must say, I'm pleasantly surprised. I didn't expect a rational response (not because it's from you, but because of the nature of most of these arguments).
