I thought I would never see the day where Cooperate America wages war against citizens rights. I've only seen things like these in the movies about the distant future. This should get interesting.

If you mean corporate America... it actually goes back a few centuries... There was even a little known war in early 20th century in West Virginia, between corrupt companies, mercenaries, the cops they owned, the US army and coal miners. The companies actually used planes to bomb the miners (keep in mind, this was in the 1920's) 15,000 miners took up arms. Hundreds died. It was the biggest insurrection since the Civil War (and to date).

Didn't that spill over into Kentucky or am I thinking of another conflict?

Yes, I believe a few battles did. It's a rather poorly documented conflict. But notable for being the largest insurrection since the Civil War, and the first time military planes were used offensively in the US. Most battles were what we would now consider large-scale riots / shootouts. But since it took place in Appalachia, everyone was armed to the teeth. Made worse by the abundance of WWI surplus weapons, and planes.

if sopa and pipa passes, and we post links to piratebay and such on senate.gov, will they shut down their own site?

Honestly I wouldn't care if they got rid of Piratebay but taking away Megaupload is a low blow.

Stopping Piratebay won't stop piracy. Same with Megaupload, it's nothing, there's many of these sites.

oh oh:

Now that MegaUpload has been shut down by the feds, other file sharing sites (Fileserve, Hotfile, Rapidshare, etc) are deleting files and blocking USA IP’s. You can check out the status of each site below.

MegaUpload
Closed.

FileServe
Deleting multiple files. Closed affiliate program.{Confirmed,per "My" account}

FileJungle
(Owned by FileServe) Deleting multiple files. Testing out blocking some USA IP addresses.

UploadStation
(Owned by FileServe) Deleting multiple files. Testing out blocking some USA IP addresses.

FileSonic
(Owned by Fileserve) No concrete news yet.

VideoBB
Closed affiliate program.

Uploaded
Banned USA IP addresses.

FilePost
Started suspending accounts with infringing material (doing what Hotfile did)

VideoZer

They arent going to be able to even touch piratebay because they are switching from torrents completely in favour of the magnet technology which removes the sites part in the action of having anyhting to do with the files themselves at all.
the bay is eternal.
and when the switch is done completely all other sites will follow suit and thus making "todays" laws worthless.

*phew*

I do support their cause but thank god rapidshare is still available...
:(

To bad their wait time sucks & it does not seem like its a good time to randomly be buying accounts at any of these sites

Mediafire is definitely my favorite site. Megaupload was second. If Rapidshare did not have that insane wait time. Then that would have been the next favorite

It really saddens me to see so many of these sites basically ran for the hills, although considering what happened to Megaupload, I can't say I blame them. I just hope eventually the Internet will readjust itself and be one step ahead instead of going to the ways of the dinosaurs.

It's all going wrong for non-US viewers who are hooked on American shows.

I don't get it, SOPA didn't pass yet and websites are already getting shut down.

Yes for free users. Don't question me on these things, I know. :cwink:

Earlier this week the two hour wait limit was still there. So that had to be recent. Is this a permanent thing ? Or like some limited thing trying to get new users hooked trying to get the Megaupload users ?
