Discussion: The REPUBLICAN Party VIII

Have not seen one, and I gage them regularly.

CBS News polling from January 4 - 8 has Rick Santorum behind Obama by 4%, CNN polling from January 11 - 12 has Santorum behind Obama by 6%.

Before Gingrich peaked, you had one Rasmussen polling with Gingrich leading Obama by 2%. Other polls have had Gingrich behind Obama by 2 to 5%.

Before Perry peaked, there have been polls that had Perry leading by 1 or 3%. And several polls that had Obama leading by only 1% to 7%.

A lot of Paul doing very well in the polls against Obama has more to do with how bad of a position Obama is in than actual support for whoever the Republican nominee is.

Yeah, I have to admit, that was a great comparison....99 weeks, could have gotton a Associate Degree to not only better themselves, but become more versatile.

Link please Hippie Hunter....don't see it.

lol at when it's "Republican" vs Obama, Obama seems to lose most the time but when you actually put a name for that Republican, Obama wins.

I don't know why you feel the need to undercut Paul. Other then Romney he seems to be doing better then Gingrich, Santorum and Perry and maybe there is an actual reason for that

...an associate's degree isn't a golden ticket for a new job in this economy.

Again, look at all the polling data. It's on there. You see polls that have Mitt Romney, Rick Perry, and Newt Gingrich leading against Obama. Back when Perry and Gingrich were at their height, they were just as competitive with Obama as Paul is.

I'm not undercutting Paul, I'm just pointing to freaking reality. The reason why any Republican is this close to Obama in the polls, even unelectable ones like Rick Santorum, is because just how weak Obama is.

While I am a Ron Paul supporter, we just can't be delusional to the facts here.

Unemployment rate for those without a high school diploma is 15%+

College Degree 4.4%

Certainly doesn't hurt....

I have to say...imho, Gingrich would destroy Obama in a debate.

...of course it doesn't hurt but I know quite a few people with degrees who cannot seem to get hired anywhere to save their lives.

For argument sake Perry was at his height in 2 polls before he ever debated once(and the Republican media was championing him as the savour of the party), Gingrich constantly gets beaten(usually by large margins) other then 2 polls.

Basically comparing the generic Republican vs Obama to the actual candidate polls tells me nobody likes any of the republican candidates because Generic Republican does much better then them. I still believe if they truly wanted to get rid of Obama, they should have pushed Huntsman more.

My guess is Paul does better then the other 3 because he actually might take a few votes from the left

I am so glad to see Romney admit he would sign the NDAA bill, and expose himself as an anti-Constitutionist, anti-Liberty, anti-Bill of Rights Progressive. Thanks Mitt!

My friend who graduated with a law degree, and finally got a job using a connection from her dad. Many people with law degrees (which can put you in the hole for 5 figures) don't even have that sort of luck.

And even though community colleges are cheap compared to a lot of things, you still need to have money to pay for it. I'm only going part-time for a certificate and it's still $500 for tuition per semester. Sure they could get student loans, but then they'd have to, ya know, pay it back eventually. :oldrazz:

Have to agree with all of this. Especially if you toss in independents.

If a random generic does better than you, you shouldn't be a contender though or you're getting slaughtered which is probably gonna be what happens.

I have to say...imho, Gingrich would destroy Obama in a debate.

Never...Gingrich really fed off the rowdy crowd tonight; it's hard to imagine a crowd so favorable in the general election. Even further, a lot of what gingrich says does border on being offensive, whether he likes it or not.

Take "food stamps President". If Newt were to make the same case against Obama, all O would really have to say is "I came into office with 10% unemployment and really a lot higher; and a dead private sector, and reality is these people wont be finding a job any time soon, so the options are give them food stamps to allow them to put food on the table, or leave them to starve while they search for jobs that don't exist".

If Newt tries to say obama is wrong, he will get booed.

Or take deregulize/no capital gains argument. Newt wants to make the US attractive to investors. Obama can say "we were attractive to investors, they came and got us into a enormous mess, and now rules exist to make sure it doesnt happen again. We argue about promoting economic growth, but abolishing the rules instilled to prevent more scoundrels from playing the majority of the system to benefit themselves won't help anything".

Basically, Obama's argument will be class warfare, and Newt doesn't seem to realize that he is feeding it with his "food stamps" and "make America attractive to invest in" comments.

Could today have been a better poll day for Romney?

SC: +14, +11
Florida: +15, +26
Republican Nomination: +20, +19
Romney v. Obama: Romney +2
Gringrich v. Obama: Obama +12, +9
Santorum v. Obama: Obama +11
Texas Primary: Romney +1

Romney is gonna get us into a needless war with Iran...although I guess Obama could as well.

I still have very strong doubts that Romney will win the general election.

You never know, he did have a funny bit on Betty White's 90th b-day bash. Called her out on not be 90 and wanted to see her birth certificate. In a b-day card. Lulz.

What a tremendous waste of time for our president.
