Venom is the only reason to see Spider-Man 3. I can't stress that enough! I'm trying, but I can't do all the work.

:woot:
speaking of venom i am really really happy that venom fights spidey in the final battle in this movie instead of edddie just becoming venom and the movies over. seeing venom fight will be an amazing experience:sym:.

You are wrong... very wrong!!! But I'll guess there's no point of arguing about it... You obviously have Venom on the brains, judging from your name!

Venom is definetly a GOOD reason to see Spider-Man 3, but definetly not the ONLY reason to see it. And he is DEFINETLY not what the film is about.

Right now, I'm actually a bit more excited about seeing as much as possible on Harry Osborn/The New Goblin when the film hits theaters, because not only do I LOVE the Goblins in Spidey-World, but because Harry's story arc takes a very dark turn in his final film (supposedly anyways) and because Harry's arc needs have some action in it...hence, The New Goblin! Not only is his suit very cool, but from what we've heard so far, he's featured in the best one-on-one battle sequence in all 3 films, not to mention the sure-to-be-glorious Battle Royale featuring Spidey, TNG, Sandy, and Ven. So, he gets plenty of action and story in this one, and his actual arc ends with this installment...[blackout]Here's to hoping he goes out like a true hero![/blackout]

Then, the confirmed "main" villain of this installment, Flint Marko...Wow...just Wow! What a glorious character! Not only is he The Sandman, but he's played by Thomas Haden Church, one of the greatest and most underrated actors of our time! The Sandman promises to bring great battle sequences, a conflicted storyline, and a terrible truth along with him in Spidey 3!

Lastly, Venom...the most awaited and most anticipated appearance of any character in any film, probably since the beginning of Spidey's comic run, arrives on May 4th. Not only is Venom one of the greatest Spidey villains of all time, but he's just a good villain over all. Sure you can't compare him to The Joker or The Green Goblin, but he brings with him a great fanbase, and although he does not appear until the final ferocious Battle Royale of Spider-Man 3, he is SURE to bring one hell of a battle with him, and fanboys everywhere, including myself and 3/4 of the Hype, will be rejoicing relentlessly...until the credits roll, and they see it again!

No doubt, "Spidey 3" brings on great villains, but Venom, although he's my favorite Spidey villain, is not at all what the film is about. The film is about Peter Parker's constant struggles with life, and how an alien suit full of great powers fuels that struggle, and the film is ultimately asking the question..."With Great Power, Comes Great Responsibility?" Is it TRULY a good thing to use your power(s) for what is expected of you....or should you do with them as you choose? And when faced with a difficult decision, when you're staring into the face of evil, will you know what to do? Will you make the right choice? And, perhaps the most important question, how will your choice(s) affect the people you love and care for?

IMVHO, that is what Spider-Man 3 is REALLY about. Dealing with the choices life thrusts upon us, good or bad. Is the way you handle them, truly the right way they should be handled? Peter Parker will find out, for better or worse, what the cost of great power really is.

Sorry for continuously rambling, but that's how I see it.

Nice post, C.A.H.

I certainly don't agree with you about Venom being a great villain, but other than that I share most of your sentiments.

Well, I guess thats your opinion
Venom for me is of of the lesser reasons for my excitement though

Umm...not to go all 'yaoi/ hentai fantasy' here, but has anyone else wondered if "Peter giving Harry CPR" portion entails the 'mouth-to-mouth resuscitation' aspect?

unfortunately I'm thinking we might be seeing a more sam/frodo ambiguous relationship thing in that scene :oldrazz: (you need tentacles to classify something as hentai)

The thought so excites me, I have not been able to sleep yet. It's been a tiring four days of Maguire on Franco fantasy.

No, honestly, who cares?

After all, we all know that Venom giving Spider-Man a kiss and getting catty with a jealous MJ will be the most interesting aspect. It's the internet fanfiction rage, especially after Raimi let slip that this was what was meant by Venom "smacking" Pete around. It totally beats any desperate imagining of romantic contact between two non-romantic male characters.

It even beats Wolverine and Magneto getting kissy-face in that deleted X-3 scene. I thought the jaws of life would be needed.

To be honest...I wouldn't see Spider-Man 3 if Venom wasn't in it. No kidding.

Excellent rant man :woot: I too am looking forward to how the new goblin/harry storyline will turn out. Ever since watching TAS and reading the comics, I've always wondered how Harry's storyline will translate into film, and I'm extremely happy that someone as visually talented as Sam will bring this story arc to the silver screen. As for ol' smiley, he definitely is another reason that SM3 will be the must see film of the summer. Venom has always been one of my favorite antiheroes so I'm definitely looking forward to his silver screen debut. Sandman will be a delight to see, and Alvin Sargent will probably turn his character complex and sympathetic, so I'm looking forward to how THC will portray this character.

I'm looking forward to all three villains, Sandy/Harry a bit more. Especially, Peter/Spidey with the symbiote.

Forget ALL the fights and everything else... I just can't ****ing wait to see black spidey in action!!! and further more seeing how Tobey Maguire handles bringing out the darker sides Of Peter Parker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ONLY 115 DAYS TO GO!!!

agreed and very well said C.A.H.:yay::up:. i am not only looking foward to seeing venom in spidey3 but i am also interested in peter fighting the battle within and harrys storyline. there will certainly be very interesting and very cool things in this movie. we have huge battles, a love triangle, the symbiote black costume. peter has to struggle with his personal problems that he faces and has to be this hero that he feels he has to be. this film will be very exciting and will blow me away.

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but it's another CES report:

SOURCE: http://www.firstshowing.net/2007/01/10/spider-man-3-ces-clips-amazing/

I finally got around to getting into one of the two Spider-Man 3 exclusive clip showings out at CES every day, and I can say nothing less than amazing! After the Grindhouse and 300 clips at Comic-Con last July, I was more excited for those movies in 2007 (than almost anything else) and couldn't wait to see them. Now Spider-Man 3 has reclaimed the throne. I don't need to go over word-for-word what happened, as you can find that at SuperHeroHype. But I can give you my reaction - holy ****!

The first two scenes were a lead-up to his interest in MJ and marrying her (and getting the ring), where there is then a fight between him and Harry that shows him nearly losing the ring and fighting to get it (as it falls from the sky). This fight scene alone is one of the best I've ever seen in my life. And considering that this is likely early on in the movie and only a very small portion of the many elaborate scenes we'll see, I am drooling (like Venom) for more! The effects were incredible, the best yet! And I am not elaborating or simply exaggerating what I remember, this was something I thought the moment it was all happening and wrote it down to post later. Spidey even uses his web balls to shoot at Harry instead of just web slings, and the whole feel of the fight seemed a lot like a comic book fight than a glorified Hollywood movie battle - something which I really hope will please the fans.

Overall this makes me much more excited for Spider-Man 3 and I think I'm not alone when I say I am even more excited for Spider-Man 3 after seeing this clip. I truly can't wait for May 4th, and I hope all of you can't wait either. Keep in touch for all the latest coverage and details we'll be bringing you on Spider-Man 3 up through May.

The reporter said it was one of the best fights scenes he's ever seen.

:eek::up:

It seems this is going to be a very good fight scene, but I'm just worried it maybe too short. :csad:

And if this fight is going to be that B.A. I can't imagine what the final Battle Royal is going to be like! :wow:

Oh yeah, haven't been here in a while, anybody ever figure out how much screen time Venom will have? Thanks
