Disney Looks To Jump On The Comic Movie Bandwagon After Lackluster Summer
Published by Casey Seijas on Monday, September 8, 2008 at 3:59 pm.

According to a post on the Disney-centric Jim Hill Media blog, word around the “House of the Mouse” is that, after a disappointing summer at the box office — led by “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian” which earned just $141 million after costing $200 million to produce — the studio will follow Warner’s and Marvel’s lead and look to “get into the comic book movie game,” as Hill puts it. However, Hill make the obvious point that, the problem with getting into the game this late means any and all of the most recognizable characters and franchises have already been snapped up by other studios and production companies.

On the other hand, this could be one of the main reasons why Disney recently partnered with comic living legend Stan Lee to bring new superheroes and concepts to Disney (such as the “Time Jumper” franchise). Likewise, this could also mean that their recently announced graphic novel division, Kingdom Comics, could become all the more vital to Disney’s movie plans moving forward.

Hmm... should be interesting. I'm not sure what to make of the Stan Lee thing, though, as he has like no good stories left in him.

Anyway, I wonder if, since Disney sees that there is money to be made from superheroes, they will stop being such stingy ***holes about releasing X-Men TAS and Spider-Man TAS on DVD. I sure hope so.

Couldn't they just do an Incredibles sequel or spin-off?

They should do a Kingdom Hearts movie. Sure, it'd cost them a god damn fortune, but it'd make the money back I'm sure. :o

And didn't they already try the superhero thing with Sky High? Which was actually a cute little movie and had some decent characters I'd like to see return.

Do a another Incredibles movie or sequel to Sky High

I'm surprised they havent already gotten around to making a sequel to the Incredibles.

I'd only want an Incredibles sequel if Brad Bird was behind it. The man is amazing, every thing he's touched at Pixar has been nothing short of great.

Meh, Stan Lee hasn't created anything good in years. Might I remind people of Stripperella?

I did like Sky High, and would like to seem them add a bit more depth if they made another one.

Incredibles or Sky High sequel.

No Zoom sequel though.:down

Hell no, that movie sucked back then and sucks now.

No it didn't but pretty sure Disney no longer have the rights to make another one

Like they said themselves, all the good properties are taken now, so I'm not sure how well they'll do. I guess we'll have to see.

I figured they would've been on that already. Get them at Graduation, seein them ready to take on their alter egos.

Incredibles sequel Disney!!! Come on its like the actually good version of the Fantastic Four movies! The movie made 270 million domestically how can you not want a sequel and many concider it the BEST pixar film

Sky High sequel...nope :down
Its embarassing that people actually liked that mess.

Incredible is the only good one they have, and i'd love to see them do a sequel. But at this rate we probably wont see one for a long time now that Pixar is booked....

sky high was meh....they pretty much screwed up wonder dog...that movie was terrible!
