It was an interesting holiday special. Definitely better and more hilarious than the original but it also is going to be completely noncanonical. I won't spoil how but there is absolutely no way this is offically part of the canon.

Almost all the characters were replaced by other actors except Rose and Lando as I recall as well.

I'd like to see that after the Marvel shows show up. But it's to be understood.

I mean, it makes sense. The Mandalorian is both new and highly praised, and the vast majority of the other content on Disney+ is older material already available elsewhere. The library has a lot of appealing, desirable content, but there is comparatively little reason why any specific older movie or TV show would draw massive numbers compared to anything else. I do expect that things will shift around more once the Marvel shows start dropping, yes. . . though I wouldn't be shocked if, even then, Mandalorian holds strong.

I mean, other side of the coin: part of the appeal of, and demand for, the Mandalorian is that it *isn't* like the Sequel Trilogy, and doesn't suffer the same defects of concept and execution that afflict the recent movies. The Mandalorian being hugely successful doesn't intrinsically disprove the premise "A ton of people loathed TLJ and RoS", at most it proves that if they hated those movies, they didn't hate them enough to write off all Star Wars forever. Which is kind of trivial.

I’d actually be surprised if any of the Marvel shows can match the sheer breakout popularity of The Mandalorian. From a quality perspective, sure, but Mando is really something special because it’s something that all Star Wars fans (PT fans, OT fans, and ST fans alike) mostly agree is pretty good, which is rare for the fandom. Plus it’s got the general audience appeal with its accessibility and marketability (The Child being the biggest example). The show came as a surprise in how good it turned out to be, even after how divided a lot of the general audience and fandom was on the franchise after The Last Jedi.

Interesting turn of events. Guess most of their FOX movies must finally be available to them. A lot was on HBO Max.

With the reports that a potential third Deadpool movie would be rated R, it makes sense Disney is looking for a way to show adult content that is seperate from the family friendly service.

They should do something like that although in this case they are going to be more open about it.

Apparently a version of Disney Plus that will offer adult content.
I assume you mean all the Fox content they own, meaning I can finally watch Die Hard on demand. But your post makes it sound like porn.

Touchstone and Miramax (for a time) were Disney’s outlets to do R-rated movies, hell yeah they were risqué.

Still boggles my mind that Mickey is partially responsible for Kill Bill.

...so is Harvey Weinstein
