Animation Disney's 'Moana'

Saw it and LOVED it. Moana is probably the coolest Disney "princess". Zootopia is still my fave animated movie this year though.

They both had the same writer, the guy that created that Penn Zero cartoon for Disney XD. Underrated show actually.

I'm glad they both exist, but I think Zootopia is leading by a slight edge over Moana. At least for me.

Definitely! I love both and I have had "We Know the Way" stuck in my head all day.

To me, Zootopia should be the Oscar winner, for best picture too.

It should definitely be a serious contender for BP but you know half the academy probably hasn't even seen it cause it's a "kids" movie.

To me this is the problem with the voting Academy members and not just race.

Zootopia wins for being the most original concept of the 2. Dealing with bigotry in an animated movie, etc. Love it, but I just love Moana more. Happy with either win.

This was so predictable that I didn't enjoy it. A young person sacrifices herself to save her family and hometown. A super powered person reluctant to help at first, but then helps. A pep talk from a loved one before the final battle. Animal comic relief. A villain (the crab) full of himself. The main antagonist that isn't really bad. Shocker! I felt like I've seen too many Disney flicks when I saw this. The comedy was also so forced. But beautiful animation, great scenery.

Just because something is predictable doesn't automatically make it bad. It depends on the execution.

Look at the first Kung Fu Panda, for instance.

I said I did not enjoy it. I did not say it was bad. It was okay. I'll give it a B.

There's not many Disney animated movies that aren't predictable. The Lion King is one of the greatest of them all and it's as predictable as they come.

It's Hamlet with lions.

Every animated Disney movie has the cliche formula, but it's the characters that make them work. Someone is viewed as bad, but they turn out to actually be nice because of something that happened in their past. There's a falling out between the main characters, but it gets resolved at the end. etc. This goes back to Dumbo.

Yeah complaining about a kids movie being predictable is kinda...yeah.

But I just saw this earlier today and thought it was great. Disney is really killing it this year. I really don't have any complaints.

As for which I like better between Zootopia and Moana, I'm not sure. But they are 2 of the best films I've seen this year so far. Better than any of the superhero movies

ANd you can bet your ass I'm going to be blasting "You're Welcome" at ignorant levels through these mean streets

Honestly most movies are predictable to an extent it's the execution that matters.

Very true. At least in the case of most major blockbusters/major films.

Saw it this afternoon. This might rival Frozen as my favorite Disney film of this era.

The scene where Moana crosses the ocean to Te Ka and eventually heals her gave me chills to the bone. Hauntingly beautiful scene.

The visuals of this film makes it a must see in the cinema. Well, that as well as "You're Welcome". That is the catchiest song of any Disney animated film since the original Disney Renaissance.

so, what's considered the main song of Moana? like, what's the Let It Go or Beauty and the Beast equivalent?

I think it's supposed to be We Know the Way.

Also, sue me but I really didn't take to You're Welcome (or any other songs from the movie) like I did Frozens songs which I found to be way more catchy.

Definitely How Far I'll Go.

Yeah How Far I'll Go is definitely the "main song", like Let it Go was.
I'm having more trouble memorizing these songs than I did with the frozen songs. Lol. I think they are a bit more wordy.
