Though I shouldn't badmouth it too much. It's still much better than having to reload a pistol six freaking times.

Ive never had the (dis)pleasure of loading a ball and powder pistol, but its something ive wanted to try.
I've loaded and fired a flintlock pistol. It's cool in a "oh so this is how they used to do it way".
If you somehow ended up back in time, and had to go to war, it would really, really suck. Especially if you're used to semiautomatics.
But hey at least it's not a matchlock.
Unusual? Every one of his movies drags. He can easily cut 10-20 in every one of his movies
This movie needs a sequel bad.
In what way?

I'm sure it's been discussed but QT I couldn't even work with a guy like that personally. Just a jerk. In that interview a few weeks back if you don't want to be a decent interview why even do it. "Shutting your butt down" Why? It was a legitimate question and while I don't care what his views are on anything I'm sure some do. I also agree QT doesn't have to answer and explain anything but then as I said why do the interview? If I was the other guy I would have just said lets just end this now and go on with our day.
I also didn't like Django last speech at all. Nothing. First off I doubt Django would refer to himself as the N word. Not in those times. Second he wasn't talking about anything. Would have been better if he said nothing but maybe a cool phrase while Stephen is laying there talking. Maybe something deep to Stephen. Foxx voice didn't go right with the scene either it was too high pitched and talking too much and too fast.
It was a matter of it being the 11157th time in the course of a month that an interviewer had tried to turn the discussion in that direction in order to get a few quotes about a topic that had little to do with the film and that QT frankly didn't give a crap about. Its no different really than when Samuel L. Jackson decided to mess with that one interviewer when he was dancing around saying the N-word while trying to discuss its use.
I love this film. My joint second Tarantino film with Jackie Brown. I think Foxx's Django is an incredible character and is unfairly overlooked because Schultz and Candie are obviously more charismatic and showy. So is Stephen too really.
But his character arc, the way he grows as the film progress is brilliant. He starts out as this near mute slave, unsure of himself and King too. By the end of the film he's a smooth talking, scheming bad ass anti hero. The way it shows all the things he's learned from Schultz is great. He fools the miners into releasing him. When he finds his body in the barn he shows the ability to read with the Bill of Sale. He even says Auf Wiedersehn! By the end of the film Django has evolved into this ultimate bad ass. Foxx gave a great performance. There was this intensity about him that seemed to always be bottled up, just under the surface. The scene where Candie orders that guy to be torn apart by the dogs and the scene where Broomhilda is taken out of the hot box stand out for me. Foxx did a lot of talking with just his eyes in those scenes. Again I think he's been unfairly overlooked. There is a lot of subtlety to his performance, it's not as showy as the others.
The final shootout is pure catharsis for all those against slavery and racism. It's like the finale to Basterds. The whole film is boiling up to this point. The audience I was with, which had all different races in it, was roaring during Django's return to Candieland. It was like being at a ball game.
