Why aren't there more of them? It seems that home theaters are getting better by the month, yet theaters are staying the same or getting worse. I mean, I can understand a small theater in a small town not having DLP stuff, but big chain theaters such as AMC and Regal should all have them by now.

Is digital cinematography widely used by filmmakers? Perhaps it's still prohibitively expensive and not enough movies are in the format.

It's getting used more and more. Even though it might not have been shot in digital, it'll still look a lot better when watched on a digital projector.

That would be cool and I think maybe they would have more patrons. Most people I talk to hate the theater experience and would rather wait for a movie to come out on DVD. I love going to the movies and a better picture would make it so much nicer.

Precisely. People are having an easier time waiting for DVDs to come out., rather than seeing movies on the big screen. I think there needs to be some major theater reform if the studios want to put an end to low box office numbers.

The theatre I live near used to have a digital but for some reason they closed it. I still remember being in line for Star Wars last year and was talking to another guy in line and I mentioned that the theatre was the DLP theatre and he said something about them moving the DLP projector to Montreal. So now every single DLP theatre is in either the greater Toronto or Montreal areas. Kinda sucks for us on the west coast. But heck that theatre has gone to hell ever since Cineplex bought them out a year ago (poor customer service, problems with screens and sound, plus more, and the theatre is still relitivly new- 7.5 years).
