There's been articles for and against MGS4 coming to Xbox 360, but PS3 has lost quite a many PS3 ONLY titles, with developers bluntly saying that developing to PS3 is difficult and takes a lot of money, and the games don't sell even as half as much as they would on Xbox 360 and Wii. But who knows. All I know that there's been re-releases of old MGS games for Xbox and Gamecube, after they've been published on a Sony platform. Kojima himself has stated that hardware wouldn't be an issue when considering a possible Xbox 360 port, avoiding to comment any further about the possibilty of seeing MGS4 on Xbox 360.

I think it boils down to how much money Sony is willing to lay on the table to not to loose another exclusive title to another system. I'm guessing a lot, but my current faith in Sony's decision making is nonexistent.

For Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance, which was released on the Xbox, Kojima had no imput on the game and was not involved at all with it. And it bombed.

Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, which was released on the Gamecube, was developed by Silicon Knights and was a remake simply because of the friendship between Miyamoto and Kojima, and Kojima was busy with Metal Gear Solid 3. That was a thing that rarely happens.

Kojima has stated that despite Metal Gear appearing on other playforms, he considers is a Playstation series.

As for the hardware you mentioned, he stated that the Xbox 360 can graphically handle it, but otherwise it can't because of the Xbox 360 lacking blu-ray. It's being developed specifically for the Playstation 3 and has been denied repeatedly by Kojima and Konami. Also, chances are that Sony's paying Konami to make sure it stays exclusive.

I agree with that, PS have always had the main MGS games.

but the question is how much microsoft's willing to pay konami, money talks louder than bonds.......if enough dollar bills are signed to a check anythings possible. but i dont play mgs so it doesnt matter to me who does or doesnt get it, but in sony's case they need this title so they better pull out all the stop to keep konami from going overboard.

I don't know what kind of arrangements Sony and Konami have regarding MGS4, but I don't think it would be too far-fetched to consider the option how far Sony might actually go because MGS4 has really been a pioneer of a game in development for the Cell processing. The resources must've been immense that Konami have thrown into making something so grandeour as their "first game" for the platform, figuring out how stuff works and so on. That must've taken a lot of capital and possible co-operation with Sony.

On the other hand, MS can throw quite a big buck on the table, and being an independent games developer has it's definite advantages.

Anyways! Didn't get my Metroid Prime 3 for the weekend :(

You need to check out the MGS4 Thread as there was a great article about how they would just keep it on the PS3 and not sell out to the 360.

not enough quality games on the Wii for me to play it a lot now that Metroid is about to come out and Super Mario Galaxy coming soon I'll play it more.

There is plenty of good ones right now IMO....

RE4, Paper Mario etc..

Hehe... add Zelda to that, and that's my Wii games collection right there :)

Over the years I've noticed that I demand quite a lot from games, but on the other hand can forgive a lot too, if something sticks out positively. Besides SMGalaxy and Metroid, I'm expecting Battalion Wars 2 to be great fun, but the previews haven't been entirely positive. I have no idea what to wait after Galaxy. Possibly Smash Bros, but after that... maybe a new Zelda. In the nearness of the year 2010, or something.

I don't think that's the question, because it's pretty damn obvious that Microsoft is willing to pay top dollar to get this game solely for the good PR for them and the bad PR for the competition.

The question is, how much power does Kojima have over this game. Right now, the answer is pointing to a lot, because it has also been confirmed that there have been discussions of porting Metal Gear Solid 4 to the Xbox 360, but the sole reason of why such work hasn't even started is because of Kojima.

Another question is, has Sony paid for exclusitivity and co-marketing. And the anwser is most likely yes. Probably due to Kituae's very public threats of porting the game and if you took a look at the Metal Gear Solid 20th Anniversary Party, there was a lot of Sony (i.e. paying for some of the event). This isn't about bonds, it seems as if there is indeed some sort of exclusitivity deal with Metal Gear Solid 4, and it was paid for by Sony, whether it is timed or permanent.

when is said bonds kojima was saying how they've been with sony and want to continue that relationship...........but i dont even think microsoft in actuality about the game its more of "yeah sony what ya got now.......that's right nothing" in other words spite the hell out of sony just because they can. the phrase kickin' a man while he's down comes to mind.......and like you said it probably will be timed exclusive which still might be bad for sony beacuse people will say "i dont to go buy a ps3 just to play a game, i'll wait til it comes out on the 360" and when those who want it for the ps3 may not be a lot of people while those who pick it up for the 360 might be a bigger majority of people who didnt play it because it was on a sony system and are giving it a go......or they could lose money the other way around or something.......i dont know, but kojima should remember the wii folks we wouldnt mind anything from him.....seriously nintendo cant be the backbone of our system.........again.........

This really isn't bonds anymore though. The bonds system that had Resident Evil 4 as a Gamecube exclusive, Devil May Cry 4 and Virtua Fighter 5 as Playstation 3 exclusives, and all the previous exclusives games to their respective platforms are gone. Microsoft and Capcom pretty much did away with that system (it appears that the only company really doing it these days is Square-Enix).

And I really doubt that Metal Gear Solid 4 is a timed exclusive. I think that it is a full exclusive, one that Sony had to pay for due to threats from Konami's executives and losing numerous exclusives. Along with the fact that Microsoft is willing to pay to get this game just to do with what you said.

The main reason why I think that this is a full exclusive: this is Kojima Productions, they don't do multiplatform games. They prefer to make each game specifically for the platform they are made and bring out the best within it. And Kojima himself has expressed doing work on both the Xbox 360 and the Wii, so don't be surprised when a Kojima Productions announces an exclusive Xbox 360 or Wii game.

even though im not a fan of the mgs series that is one good looking game mind you though good looking........but not good looking enough to buy a ps3 $400 is still just too much for my wal....i mean my dad's wallet......the most expensive systems ive bought were the gameboy, ds, gc, and wii, all of them being in the 100-250 range 400 dollars are like buying four gameboy colors in '98. but it still looks like a game for those who can afford to play.....i'll just settle for the 3rd one....full gc bc on the wii ftw!!!!!

Love the Wii.

Paper Mario and Mario Party are enough fun right now. Paper Mario being my fav at present of the games I have. The 3D option makes it very interesting indeed.

Since I moved back to school, I don't have a TV. My Wii has been sitting in its box for two months now. I even got RE4, but haven't had a chance to play it.:csad:

2 months. What are you studying?

We go out on dates, usually on the weekend, and have quickies the days when my class starts at 10 instead of 9

You're theory definately makes a lot of sense.

However, despite Kojima's wishes in the end, Konami can decide for themselves whether they want to port it. Koj's power only extends so far.

So while Guns of The Patriots may in fact be a full exclusive, don't be suprised to Metal Gear Solid 4: Special Edition on 360. May be just a simple port, but a port nonethelss.

The hype and desire for MGS4 is enormous, and Konami execs see just how much is riding on this one game. Hell, after announcing it being delayed till 2nd quarter 2008, their stocks plummeted 6.8%.

The 360 community is salivating at the prospect of getting a port. And right now the best thing for Konami and the franchise is to release a port no earlier than a year after the PS3 release.
