Doubt it's that specific POV shot. Why would they use the final shot of that movie that's supposed to be memorable and "fulfilling" in the trailer?

I think it'll either be part of that POV shot (which will hopefully shift to third-person...) or a different POV shot, or it won't even be a POV shot.

Assuming of course, there is a final swing.

No, i think that looks like his first time deciding to go out on patrol as Spider-man, y'know, as opposed to him accidently being Spider-man after the wrestling match or whatever(if they play it that way)...because the way that p.o.v plays it's like he has found his identity, he's doing his thing and taking a good look in the mirror now he has found himself.

Something very interesting. The final swing in David Koepp's Spider-Man script, which Raimi kind of used, was a POV shot.

EXT. OVER THE CITY -we swing through the sky, first-person Spidey-cam again, rushing past the buildings in great, graceful arcs.

SPIDER-MAN
But I can't. I will never forget these words: "With great power comes great responsibility."

Our gloved hand rises up into frame, shoots out a web, we swing off in another direction. It's exhilarating, dizzying, we see only the buildings racing by, but not ourselves.

SPIDER-MAN (V.O.) (cont'd)
Because I love her, she will never, ever know.

Up ahead, an enormous mirrored building looms up in front of us, maybe it's the one Saul Bass used in the opening of "North By Northwest."

SPIDER-MAN (V.O.) (cont'd)
This is my gift.

We're approaching the building fast, fast, we see ourselves now, our reflection, growing bigger, bigger, bigger, huge.

SPIDER-MAN (V.O.) (cont')
This is my curse.

We SPLAT up against the side of the mirrored building, and finally see ourselves as a figure, blood red and midnight blue just hanging there in the camera lens.

Which happens to sound a lot like the POV shot in the trailer.

Wow, it really does! :wow:

I know that Cameron came up with the concept of the spanky-shooters, but i think that was about it right?
I was just making a wee joke back there, haha, not trying to say the Raimi's were more original or whatever.

From Cameron's script:

"He is wracked by a convulsive tremor, like a seizure. He is plunged into a psychotropic state... an abyss of dark visions which yawns beneath him. He falls into the maelstrom, barraged by hallucinatory manifestations. Disturbing images of webs... from a POV as if crawling over them. Glistening eyes in the dark. Sudden predatory lunges. Prey struggling hopelessly to escape. A David Lynch bio-horror montage of spiderworld."

There's lines of dialogue amongst other things too. lol

Ok, interesting to know, , I only looked at the first few paragraphs of Cameron's script.

Glad they didn't head the P.O.V route with the final swing

I think they should include a final swing, SM3 felt weird without one to be honest. Just like the Star Wars movies have had intros, Spidey's movies should have those swings at the end. I know Webb's movie isn't connected to Raimi's, but the final swing shouldn't be exclusive to Raimi's films just because he used them first. It's a very iconic and powerful way to end the movies but if they come up with something better I'm all for it!

It was sad not having a final swing scene in SM3, alas understandable

I don't understand the POV hate either to be honest. It looks cool.

Agreed. Don't get me wrong, nothing can beat seeing Spidey do his thing in third-person view, but POV shots ("proper" POV shots, like the one in the trailer) are awesome.

Why not?

Not sure where this POV hate is coming from. It's better than just a camera that bobs up and down.
Forget hate, watching the full figure swinging through Manhattan and viewing all poses and action is pure gold

I think the point of the final swing sequences is to show that even though the movie is over Spidey is still out on patrol. There to save the day. The story continues even though the movie is over.

You can liken this to Batman talking to Gordon on top of the police station in Batman Begins then flying off. And then the sequence of him running from the cops in the Dark Knight. The movie has ended, but the story continues.

I think that is a necessary part in comic book movies. The story is will always continue for the hero. But I think there are better ways to show this in the movie then swinging as well. Maybe we have Osborne creating his serum, or Doctor Octavious building his mechanical arms. Perhaps we have Spencer Smythe talking to JJJ.

A scene that sets up a sequel. leave the web swinging when there is no continuing story. That probably makes more sense.

Yep. But it's even cooler when the point of view changes from first-person, to third-person.

I can't see (if there is a final swing) being entirely in first-person.

Agreed. For sake of the argument, lets say the POV shot we’ve seen IS the final swing. I can easily see a cool “seamless” transition from POV to 3rd person when we see the reflection in the window. The rest of the scene finishes in 3rd person.

Of course, I can also just as easily see the movie ending at the reflection, too…
