I'm currently planning a rewrite to the 2006 "Dead or Alive" film, based on the best selling videogame series.
Here's a teaser trailer, written by me, as a taste of what's to come:
BLACKNESS.
Sound of RAINDROPS... drop... drop... drop... open to a pretty, enchanting forest. A dark-haired WOMAN sits on a slab of rock in the midst of a raging STORM, her face full of loss and longing.
A mystical BIRD squeaks; distracted, the woman looks up into the sky.
And the CLOUDY LANDSCAPE of the sky becomes a SNOWY PLAIN.
Footsteps lead up to a MAN -- dressed in white robes -- heavily breathing, giving quick glances over his shoulder.
HAYATE (V.O.): Why are you following me?
DONOVAN (V.O): You have no clue to your past, do you? You're more enchanting than we could have hoped for.
A HELICOPTER booms down onto the snowy plain. Locks eyes with the prisoner. Exchange a fierce look of determination.
The helicopter opens FIRE -- ripping into the snow fields below. But as the smoke clears, it's revealed... the man has DISAPPEARED.
EXT. MOUNTAINSIDE - SEA - DAY
Dark-haired and elusive DONOVAN stands, peering over the edge of the mountain, looking to the vast sea below. His assistant, CHRISTIE, stands elegantly beside him.
CHRISTIE: What now?
DONOVAN: We continue with our plans. We may have lost our best work... but we have so much to gain.
EXT. FOREST - DAY
The dark-haired woman we saw earlier rises from her resting spot.
KASUMI (V.O.): I'm going to find my brother.
She makes her way into the forest, her blue robes billowing in the wind behind her.
NINJA (V.O.): But he's gone from this world.
KASUMI (V.O.): Yet he remains in my heart.
EXT. MANSION - DAY
A well-preserved Victorian mansion.
GEN FU (V.O.): You have proven yourself, my young apprentice.
INT. MANSION - FOYER - DAY
GEN FU (60) stands before his young, blonde, protege, ELIOT.
GEN FU: You've made me so proud.
He hands him a SHURIKEN; engraved with the letters "DOA".
ELIOT: What's this?
GEN FU: Your final test. If you suceed in this, you will truly be invincible.
INT. LABORATORY - DAY
CHRISTIE: Everything's prepared, sir.
DONOVAN: Excellent. I think it's time we let her loose.
EXT. CHURCHYARD - NIGHT
A group of WARRIORS, including Kasumi, Eliot and the superstar wrestler TINA ARMSTRONG stand in a circle -- anxious and wary.
A sound RUMBLES in the distance. Omnious... growing LOUDER...
ELIOT: That wouldn't happen to be your stomach would it?
TINA: Does it look like I eat?
INT. HELICOPTER - DAY
Tina and Christie sit in the helicopter, as it rips through the sky. Suddenly something catches Christie's eye.
CHRISTIE: Look out!
EXT. SKY - DAY
The helicopter EXPLODES in a fiery ball of METAL and GLASS!
INT. LABORATORY - CORRIDOR - DAY
Eliot dispatches several guards with quick, powerful BLOWS!
INT. LABORATORY - ESCAPE - DAY
Donovan moves hurriedly through, flanked by several guards.
CHRISTIE (V.O.): That *****. After everything I've done for him!
EXT. BOAT - DAY
A purple-haired WOMAN stands on the deck of a ship, clad in dark robes and wielding a SWORD.
HAYABUSA (V.O.): She's here.
KASUMI (V.O.): I know. I have seen her.
HAYABUSA (V.O.): She won't rest until she's killed us both.
INT. LABORATORY - ESCAPE - DAY
Hayate knocks out Donovan's guards with a single POWERFUL KICK!
INTERCUT:
Eliot looks up anxiously from his bedroom as the rear of the complex EXPLODES!
In a desert-like environment, superninja HAYABUSA swerves to avoid a spray of bullets!
INT. LABORATORY - ESCAPE - DAY
DONOVAN: The lab rat.
HAYATE: What do you know?
DONOVAN: More than you.
INT. LABORATORY - SECURE CHAMBER - DAY
DONOVAN (V.O.): You were our most gifted work. But we found something better.
The door HISSES... it opens, SLOWLY, dramatically, WHITE LIGHT escaping from the cracks... as a pair of LEGS steps out.
KASUMI (V.O.): Hayate! Don't you remember me?
EXT. MOUNTAINSIDE - SEA - DAY
HAYATE (V.O.): I don't know anymore.
And he allows himself to fall, TOPPLING TOWARDS THE SEA BELOW! As he hits, the screen turns BLACK.
CHRISTIE (V.O.): Welcome... to "Dead or Alive".
The letters "DOA" cascade onto screen, as MUSIC plays with fierce intensity.
CHRISTIE (V.O.): You're invited.

I intend it to be bigger, better and braver than what the 2006 adaptation gave us.
