Doctor Who - The Mickey 2.0 edition

We tried to get one a while back. This was back when Doctor Who, Torchwood, and Sarah Jane Adventures were all on the air too.

They said no.

Yeah, we've got no chance for one now. Best case scenario, we'll have the TV series, and two web series produced intermittently.

I'm fine with that. We don't really have that much activity anyway. Look how long it's taken for us to get through Mickey 2.0.

We need to speed this up. When will the Adric thread be?! WHEN!?!?!

If we're at Mickey now and it's been four months then...

next tuesday.

2099.

Why does Doctor Who not have it's own section?

Honestly, one thread is sufficient. Game of Thrones got one due to it being the most active thread in the TV Forum (aside from wrestling) and it being a very complex show that necessitates a subforum. On Game of Thrones, there are dozens of characters and story lines going at any given time. It is a show with many moving parts, each of which can warrant its own thread. Conversely, for the most part, Doctor Who just follows the Doctor and his companion. Yes, each episode could have a thread, each companion and each incarnation of the Doctor could have a thread, but those threads would be mostly dead (there's just not much to talk about regarding the Second Doctor or Tegan...heck, even a thread about more recent companions like Amelia and Rose would be mostly dead because there is no development for past characters). So yeah, discussion would be very limited to just a few threads. As such, it isn't needed.

Okay then! :woot: That makes sense. I guessed it had something to do with the lack of thread potential. :)

I'm for keeping it to one thread: it keeps the discussion more concentrated and more lively.

And yet it's been four months since he got here.

One of the best moments from Series 7, from Hide.

It really captures how awesome and deep this character is.

The Doctor: What's wrong? Did the TARDIS say something to you? Are you being mean?
Clara: No, it's not that. Have we just watched the entire life cycle of Earth, birth to death? And you're okay with that?
The Doctor: Yes.
Clara: How can you be?
The Doctor: The TARDIS. She's time. We... wibbly Vortex. And so on.
Clara: That's not what I mean.
The Doctor: Okay. Some help. Context. Cheat sheet... something?
Clara: I mean one minute you're in 1974 looking for ghosts, but all you have to do is open your eyes and talk to whoever's standing there. To you I haven't been born yet. And to you I've been dead a hundred billion years. Is my body out there somewhere? In the ground?
The Doctor: Yes, I suppose it is.
Clara: But here we are talking. So I am a ghost. To you, I'm a ghost. We're all ghosts to you. We must be nothing.
The Doctor: No. No. You're not that.
Clara: Then what are we? What can we possibly be?
The Doctor: You are the only mystery worth solving.

Moffat confirmed for series 9.

Question: How far ahead do you plan Doctor Who?

Moffat answers: One season at a time, largely. I suppose, I had a fair amount of Trenzalore worked out (The Doctor trapped in a war for thousands of years) when I wrote the Eleventh Hour, but that's really the exception. Sitting here, right now, just before the finale shooting block, I've figured out the cliffhanger to the penultimate episode of the next series. And it's a whopper! Ohh, I don't think you'll see this coming.

I hope next season is his last.

Ideally, it would've been this one, but it is what it is

I would have liked to see someone new take over as I'm a bit tired of how he does things. Oh well, at least a new season starts soon enough.

I'm very curious how they do the first episode and how he does the adjustment to the regeneration. Although I've never understood how some of the regenerations work. If he regenerated as an older man like he did as 3 and 12 would he have the same lifespan as one who regenerated as a younger one like 10 or 11?

Well I'm not tired of Moffat yet, with a new Doctor I think it will be different that it was with 11...perhaps. I love what Moffat has done, id be okay with two or three more seasons.

As long as he keeps River's involvement to a minimum, I would have no problem with Moffat going on another for an additional season.

I like Moffat. I hope he stays on until, at least, the end of Series 10.

He's never had any truly bad episodes (unlike RTD), and he's only gotten better. And, in the coming season, he's even returning the show to a more traditional format, with a non-split season w/ multi part stories.

So yeah, I'm cool with him staying a bit longer.

Yeah at his worst Moffat is decent, I don't find any of his episodes bad. But I do think alot of his best stuff was in Series 5.

Episode 12, Series 9 cliffhanger:

The return of the Ninth Doctor.

I wish.

Yeah, as long he tones down the River Song appearances I'm cool with Moffat staying for another season.

Moffat's era is filled with really good individual and 2-part episodes, but his long term overarching plot threads get a little loose due to poor planning. He's pretty much tied up everything he's had set up (for better or worse), so I'm hoping his upcoming two series will be less arc-heavy.

Moffat or no Moffat, I just need someone that respects the Capaldi. :o
