I find that if people start watching DW with 10 or 11 they tend to get lost and don't want to anymore. I always tell them start with 9 and that will explain everything as it goes along.

I started with Nine, and I had no problem understanding DW. I usually tell my friends that if they want to start watching it, they should start with Nine.

People shouldn't really have a problem jumping in with 11. It was designed to be a new start for viewers, and 12's first episode is too.

But it's always good to get in as many Doctor's as possible.

It is really confusing. :yay: I wasn't expecting him to just change bodies like that. Plus, I'm still really confused about Daleks...or how ever you spell that...lol. It's good fun, but I can't really say I'm understanding anything. :woot:

I guess if you've never at all been exposed to Doctor Who, you wouldn't be expecting a regeneration, but right back in the first episode, the Ninth Doctor comments on new face.

And what didn't you understand?

That's just Smith's last costume in action figure form, no?

Yup, they're also horrendous quality. Apparently Jenna is made of wax and stood to close to a fireplace, Capaldi is a stroke victim and they've got Eleven's costume wrong.

J. Michael Straczynski has said that he'd love to write an episode for the show.

I would love to write a Doctor Who episode someday, I’m a huge fan. I’m curious to see how the new guy does, I love what Matt Smith is doing so I’ll give the new guy benefit of the doubt. I do know what that story would be. But honestly? Steven Moffat is doing such a great job on that show. That and Sherlock, the writing that this guy does is so far beyond the pale. We need to kill him as soon as possible to stop looking bad by comparison. I do know what it is but I’m not going to tell you.

Get to it Moffat.

Tbh, I wouldn't be all that keen on JMS....When he takes on other people's creations he seems to make it his first of order of business to to try and re-write their long standing origins so it will forever has his stamp all over it.

He tried it with Spider-man (all that 'totem' stuff), tried to do it with the FF (Cosmic rays were a sentient force that deliberately changed them), he did it more recently with Dr Manhattan (had him effectively creating himself).

He can be a fine writer (especially with his own creations, I liked Babylon 5 for example) but I'm not sure I'd want him doing the Doctor with that lot in mind.

Presumably Moffat wouldn't give JMS free reign with the continuity.

Moffat can set some perimeters and then let J. Michael Straczynski pitch him some ideas within that.

He's raising the People's Eyebrow.

He wouldn't be allowed to do any of that stuff on Doctor Who. On those comics his role was equivalent to Moffat's on the show - I think - so he could do things like that, but this time he'd just be writing a self-contained episode or two, ala The Doctor's Wife.

Which one is Eccleston?

He's Nine, so the one you're watching right now.

On another note, an outline or two for some new Series 8 monsters... but it still keeps Capaldi's outfit a secret. Dammit!

God, now I want JMS to write an episode. Get Neil Gaiman in next season too. And get Warren Ellis, if he promises to tone it down a smidge. And bring back Paul Cornell. Is Peter David a fan? I want all my favorite comic book writers in this thing.

And John Byrne

Grant Morrison can stay at home, though. Nobody wants a completely abstract episode of Doctor Who in which nothing makes sense unless you think of things in an entirely meta-fictional context.

If we're talking comic writers that should write for Who, Grant Morrison is a must. He could do a really trippy, timey-wimey episode. Something that really scares the crap out of younger fans... :hehe:

The Master: "Too late, my dear Doctor! Your cunning, sonic screwdriver, and plucky young human cannot save you this time! I am the Master, and all will obey me!"
