Apparently there'll be no theatrical run. . . . :cmad:

Ben Barnes' Dorian Gray U.S. DVD Release

Source: E1 Distribution April 14, 2010

It looks like Dorian Gray is going to eschew a U.S. theatrical run and go directly to DVD. Directed by Oliver Parker (Hellraiser's moving man), this re-telling of Oscar Wilde's tale stars Ben Barnes, Colin Firth, Rebecca Hall and Ben Chaplin.

E1 will release the film on August 24. You can find a number of clips, trailers and a Ben Barnes featurette here.

Stay tuned for cover art and more details.

Just for the hell of it, I decided to bring this picture up. Why they decided to dye his hair blonde, I have no idea...thank god he's never done anything like that again.

:hehe:

does the movie have the same homo-centric undertones of the book?
Ive read the book and wow, it's petite. haha.

This is all over the net. I saw it and it was long and slow and it had gay stuff and not the good kind of girl on girl gay stuff. It was the other kind.

What happened to this movie? Did it get swept under the rug or is it suffering the Solomon Kane treatment of "this film was not made by a major studio so... flush it down the crapper?"

It just seems odd because Barnes and Rebecca Hall seem to be "up-and-coming" actors, and Firth was just nominated for an oscar. You'd think that someone would get behind it, unless it's really bad.

I dunno .
Maybe because of the so so reviews it got ?
RT has it at a 45% rating and the movie didn't exactly set the BO on fire.

Yeah but I've seen movies at 7% on RT that make about $10 at the box office still get released.

not a bad movie at all. Ben Barnes is great. Quite mystified this movie just got dumped.
Why is it coming out now though in the USA? it was out ages ago on dvd in the UK.

I've had this movie for a while and still haven't watched it.:csad:

Dorian is blonde in the book.

Although I've never seen that adaptation with Duhamel (and judging by the poster, that's probably a good thing), he looks a lot more like book-Dorian than Ben Barnes did.
