In the grand tradition of the Double Bill, please pair two movies for an evening of cinematic bliss. I'll start.

I was thinking Evil Dead / Dead Alive, followed up by Spider-Man / Fellowship of the Ring.

Geek favorites make it to the big leagues with trend setting blockbusters.

Army of Darkness / Dead Alive since they released so close to each other and changed the landscape as we know it

I suppose but Evil Dead II shares the same type of horror humor as Braindead.... plus the amount of blood in both.

There Will Be Blood and The Master make excellent companion pieces.

I recommend Drive and Nightcrawler any time this question comes up!

I had my suspicions for a while that the films would pair well, both being set in Las Angeles with a strong driving focus and some aesthetic similarities.

Additionally, I think Drive works interestingly as a kind of superhero story, complete with a costume and mask. Nightcrawler plays like a supervillain orgin.

I watched them together with myfriends and they pair better than I ever expected. They even have scenes shot in the exact same diner!

With the evolution of folk music and the continued allusions to the Odyssey, I think the Coens consciously made Inside Llewyn Davis as a followup to O Brother, Where Art Though? This is another double I've done with my friends.

Rango and Mad Max: Fury Road worked really well for me some years back. More so than paired with Chinatown or Fear and Loathing.
