If the mods wish to delete this, I would understand, however if you could make an official thread for Doom, that would be great.

Okay, my two cents...I feel that McMahon is still the right choice for Doom...he does have that arrogant charm, plus he looks like Victor in the comics. I think if given the chance to play the REAL Doom, he would have rose to the occasion and nailed it...

This time around, if he is indeed in part two and now the monarch of Latveria, then we may finally see what we should have had to begin with in part one.

Give him some "intelligent" dialogue, let him curse Richards name, nail the look perfectly (look at Books of Doom part 6 for a perfect reflection of Doom), give him faithful Boris, armies to command, the castle in the middle of an "medieval" looking village.

They could duplicate the Arrival of the Surfer/Doom absorbtion of his cosmic powers storyline perfectly...with a little bit of a good imagination.

Come on Marvel and Fox...don't screw up Doom again...he can be as memorable as McKellen's Magneto and if done right, this one film could upstage 6 Darth Vader appearances....

Why would a mod need to delete this? absolutely nothing wrong with this thread....

They botched Doom in FF. I hope they either hold him off for FF3 and fix him, or have him steal the Silver Surfer's powers. They just need to let him be Doom. Not a cheap Green Goblin. They need to make him Doom.

I hope we see a much closer to the comics Doom in this one but i don't think we'll get armies and the like, maybe Borris though

He needs to have greta big character arc, and friggin start in latveria!

I am pretty much it total agreement with you, Goblin. If they were going to change Doom's origin so much for the film, they could have at least made it more memorable and less like Norman Osborne's. In the comics, just about the only similarity in the characters is that they both wear masks and have green in their costumes.

When we first heard Avi Arad's preference to include the Puppet Master in FF2, partially to repair the slight to Alicia Masters' character, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to use John Byrne's "Terror in a Tiny Town" to also attach the return and restoration of Doom in the sequel. Now that they seemed to have changed direction in the script and will focus on the Silver Surfer, it still presents the possibilty of bringing Doom back by having him repaired by the Silver Surfer's Power Cosmic. Then as many have pointed out they could adapt the Cosmically powered Doom storyline as a cliffhanger ending for FF 2. The Surfer could still dominate the sequel and Doom's reappearance could be addressed in the third movie, along with the coming of Galactus who comes along in search of his wayward Herald.

I have a sinking feeling that we will never see the storybook kingdom of Latveria brought to the screen, unless there is a major budget hike. Plus you would have to have a director of the Peter Jackson caliber to be able to handle a film like that. How awesome would it be to have a scene like this brought to the big screen??

I don't mind the origin change, I just wish he was in the mask longer in the film. It wasn't really an origin change, it was a melding of Ultimate Doom with regular Doom. It could have been worse, at least they didn't give him cloven hooves.

In either case, I love McMahon's performance in the film. He's very charismatic and compelling. He's always played a great villian.

Iron Maiden, you hit it on the head. That picture of Latveria would be perfect...I don't see why they can't have a castle in the movie with a small town below it...it shouldn't cost too much money to film that. It is getting cheaper to film overseas (i.e. Romania, Prague). They could easily build a castle set...I don't think it would be as extravagant as the picture you posted..but there is a chance that Doom could end up with what he deserves...one can only hope :doom: :doom: :doom:

Once he breaks free of that solidified condition he is in - He is going to be one PO man.

I hope they let us see how PO Doom can be like in the comics.

But with a game plan for revenge that really places Reeds intellect to the test.

Doom knows Reed and how he thinks and Reed knows Doom - but perhaps doesnt completely realize the intensity of Dooms rage after being in that solidified prison.

Doom should outsmart Reed - would be very cool!

I like the sound of that.

He will especially be annoyed if after gaining mobility again he finds that mask was irreperably grafted onto his smug features.

Here's where i think they will go with this;

Picking up where the first film left off, Doom's assistant has Doom's carcass shipped off to an undisclosed location in Latveria...an underground research facility of sorts..perhaps set up to send off signals from earth to make contact with any life forms in outer space....

Contact is made in the form of the Silver Surfer...Ever see that old sci-fi movie, The Day The earth Stood Still? i would LOVE to see the Surfer skimmimg over all the great cities of the planet; London, Paris, Rome...finally following the beacon to Doom's Latverian base. Sensing life in Doom's body, the Surfer uses the power cosmic to rearrange Doom's molecules changing him back to the less inert form he had prior to his defeat in the first movie...

Awakened, Doom pretends to befriend the Surfer, only to attack him while his back is turned, using the same device from the comics to effectually steal all of the Surfer's power...

Cut to NYC, where the FF are in the midst of battle with Mad Thinker and his Android (or Dragon Man, or the Frightful Four...whatever. Surprise us!)...after a brief battle, they return victorious to the Baxter Building (via the Fantasticar, natch)...

An urgent message from the U.N. awaits the team....apparently, Doom has conquered Latveria in one days time, set himself up as monarch, and declared war on the rest of the planet....

You can fill in the blanks from there, but obviously, the team restores the Surfers power to him, just in time to battle an arriving (and extremely hungry) Galactus.

How long do you think it will be before we find out whether or not Doom is definitely in this movie or not? I don't want them to just ignore Doom like it never happened, especially if there is a chance for redemption..

Which version of Doom are you comparing the movie Doom to?

I assume you are talking about my comment...I just want to see Movie Doom transform into Comic Doom in this movie, give us most of the the things we were denied in the original (i.e. the actual cloak and armor, Boris, Latveria, his castle, his armies of robots, his devious intellect, and his rivalry with Richards...with him cursing his name "RICHARDS!")

Let's dub this "Official". I shall temporarily sticky this with the others until the mainstay regulars get acquainted with them....

lol What will he do now, nothing to offer Sue :(

-sigh-

McMahon let me down in the first one. The idea of him as Doom works, but he just didn't pull it off.

Just like the idea of Halle Berry being Storm works, but she didn't pull it off to X3.

The only thing that I ask of them besides the 10,000 things I asked for in a previous post is that however much time Doom is on the screen (assuming he actually is in the movie), they make it count and if it is only 5 minutes, then be the most powerful 5 minutes you can muster...I just hope it is more than 5 minutes.

My issue with Julian in F4 was the fact that he seemed so like Christian Troy from Nip/Tuck until he put the mask on. I really had a hard time viewing him as anything but Christian up until that point, which was annoying.

But bringing it back around to Doom, I do think that he will have more than 5 minutes screentime. Why bother otherwise?

But Mcmahon isn't coming back for the sequel...I wonder if his schedule opened up would he even want to do it? Maybe if they did use doom again he could just record his lines and not even have to be there for filming since he'd be in a mask...thats something to think about. But other than that...theres no undoing what has been done to him...in the movie I mean. So I guess we can only hope that FF2 is successfu, and better...and that FF3will feature his return.

Its not clear at this point whether he's coming back or not. First a couple of people said in interviews that he wasn't. Then a couple of high-ups including, I believe, Tim Story confirmed that he was. Now we're not quite sure which script they're using or what the storyline will be.

The only thing we know for a fact is that Nip/Tuck started filming this week, about a month earlier than usual, and will probably finish the 15 episode season sometime in October. Jessica Alba has said that she will start filming FF2 at the end of August. On this basis, there's nothing to stop Julian from appearing, albeit in a somewhat reduced capacity. Again, this wouldn't be surprising because the other thing we know for a fact is that they're planning to introduce other villains.

well, all that said...it seems his role will be very small, but introducing other villains can only mean...theres no room for him or they can't get him back or their working it out...somehow. But again I thought that it wasn't just Nip/Tuck that was interfering it was a movie he was supposed to be filming with Nicole Kidman
