From Rotten Tomatoes:
Ftopel writes: "Dr. Doom may be the comic book equivalent to Julia Roberts, trying on different outfits in front of a mirror in a romantic comedy montage. He seems to have more outfits in "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" than most divas.

"It's weird, man, because first of all, you start with Dr. Doom has been in a casket for a couple of years and wakes up a few years later," said actor Julian McMahon. "He's pretty pissed off, kind of just rips off his mask and all that kind of stuff. He gets very ugly."

Homecoming gives Dr. Doom a setting fit for his wardrobe changes. "Then he's got his lair set up in some castle in Latveria, right? We're talking comic book stuff so you have to kind of go with all this kind of stuff. With all these monitors and stuff, I don't know where he got 'em all from but they're pretty cool. He sees this kind of entity which is the Silver Surfer. Just knowing the comic books, Dr. Doom is Dr. Doom so what does he do? He goes and he tries to destroy everybody and get everybody's powers and all that kind of stuff. That's basically what the character's about."

Once the Surfer is off, McMahon gets to be himself. "Then Dr. Doom becomes me for a certain period of time which I think is very strange but let's not get into that."

For the grand finale, expect a big closer. "Then the final costume is this pretty amazing costume. It's a similar kind of mask. It's kind of a larger type of fit and probably a little more sturdy kind of look to it. The chest plate, it's a very heavy outfit. It weighed about 45 -50 pounds whatever without the cape and stuff but its pretty extraordinary. It’s a darker suit than the one he had last time its kind of more Batmanesque in a way, but with the mask its obviously very Dr. Doom, and it’s a great looking outfit. Look, I got so many outfits its ridiculous."

At least they're keeping him busy. With new characters like the Surfer and Galactus, Dr. Doom still has a vital role. "I had quite a lot to do actually, because he went through all these transformations, different to what happens in the comic or the cartoon but we kinda just had to make it applicable [to the film]."

He has some appearances coming up next week to promote "Premonition" so maybe he will talk about the costumes a bit more or Fox will tell him to keep quiet too :woot: From the sound of it, it looks like this boosts the credibility of the dark armor production art that was leaked last month.

He may find it strange but I think the female fans are just grateful. Perhaps the powers that be are aware of that.

I think the male fans have underestimated the number of female fans that came to the first movie because of him, Iren! :cwink: Another thing about that is since he does go on about how much the costume weighs, I would guess that means he does wear it himself at least some of the time---except for when stunts are involved --- and not a body double a la Darth Vader.

Heh. I always love his interviews on anything really.

Real interesting tidbits. I love how when Doom wakes he just rips the mask that's been molded to his face right off.

I hope they show him back at the castle going on a rampage and tossing flunkies about when he wakes up.:woot:

Shot in a real horror movie type way would be really cool

Sounding promising!:woot:

Thanks IM!

I remember thinking during the first movie: "You know, they're not really saying that he's not the ruler of Latveria."

I doesn't just give it credibility, it kinda confirms it.

This is the part that thrills me. So he is getting his castle set-up in Latveria after all?:up:

Interesting,thanks IM:up: looks like we know Doom's 3 looks.

1)Crispy remains Doom

2)GQ Julian with Surfer's powers Doom

3)Classic Doom

I'm sure 2 will raise a few eyebrows on here:cwink:

I'll have to wait and see before I say he will have the "classic look". But here's hoping.

Eyebrows? Heh...more like HELL. lol

Ok, imagine this: Doom has just taken the Silver Surfer's powers, but he is still looking like a burn victim. So he steps in front of a mirror and says...

.... wait for it

"What don't you like about yourself?"

(ladies and gentlemen... I'll be here all night. Tip your servers!)

That sounds painful. :wow: Good interview. :woot: At least we have some indication, what he will look like. And I like what I have heard. :cwink:

Let's just hope they still have the armor on tap for that third costume.

It sounds amazing....so I am liking what I am hearing:

For one, it sounds like Doom will have his castle in Latveria so I "guess" he will be the monarch in this movie after all? Then, he rips the mask off...sounds really cool...absorbing Surfer's power I guess will revert him for a little while to Victor, then he dons the armor and becomes the Doom we all know and love...sounds like ol' Vic has a lot to do in this movie...good news...so far :)

The one thing I am still hoping for is that he has the Surfer's powers when he dons the Dr. Doom outfit, b/c I've always wanted to see Doom just bursting with power after beating the Surfer...that is the only thing I am a little apprehensive on is Doom getting this cosmic power and he fixes his face, at least still have the armor on...

Sounds like they know they made a huge mistake, and they are trying to rectify it. Sounds like they have done that. :yay: Now it appears we will see Doom as he should have been. :woot:

There should have been a rimshot in there somewhere too :woot:

You know that part about him ripping the mask off after he wakes up is sort of a play on the retcon that John Byrne came up with... where putting the mask on while it had not cooled caused the scarring, not the accident in college that he blames the accursed Richards for sabotaging. If anything, the movie version of Doom has an even stronger reason to hate Reed with a white hot passion since 1. It was Reed's idea to examine the cosmic event up close 2. Reed was leading the FF in the final attack that may have welded the mask to his metallic skin.

Tim Story and Don Payne will deserve big props if he has been behind getting more of a classic Doom to the screen. Maybe the "geniuses" at Fox finally listened to the fans.

Aggred. I think not only Fox, but everyone involved. From Avi, right straight down to Story. They heard the fans loud and clear. :woot:

DOOM was something they DEFINITELY needed to fix from the first movie....hopefully the fans were heard....or read....

Did anyone else catch the fact that it seems Julain disagrees with bieng unmasked for a period? Kinda makes the theory he wanted face time a little redundant IMO.

I have only one thing to say ... ALL FEAR DOOOOMM! :doom: Whoo Hooo!
