dragonball the animated series

Lets rememeber that with speed racer and x-men they got the rights and made a cartoon to come out at the same time as the film.

With dragonball they would have to get the rights to make an animated one as well. Which i think would be difficult for them.

I don`t see a db series coming out in time for the movie. Fox are prob not that sure on the property yet.

If it is successful then they will prob have talks over the idea of a new cartoon. Toriyama would prob say no to some lame wolverine and the x-men series unless they demonstrated some in depth understanding of his manga. The outcome would either be that...

a)the american cartoon makers are good enough and impress toriyama and shonen jump (or whoever) enough to get the seal of approval.

b)nothing happens. fox is unable to convince toriyama and shonen jump (or whoever) to let them make a new series.

c)The live-action movie prompts shonen jump (or whoever) to make a new series set after DBGT. New japanese series is made with some input from toriyama and funding from fox.

I dunno whether a reboot would be attempted. Its possible but I can`t see toriyama and co going for it.

i want a new db series..i want that so baaad...i mean..dbz was finished before i was even born..i want to see some episodes actually made in my lifetime too..but i dont want them to be related to that crappy movie fox is working on...A.Toryama should be in charge of doing that..deffinately....and i think it would look like budokai tenkaichi 2 and 3 intros...those were great

This week, several of FUNimation's DVD releases have been nominated for the fifth annual TV DVD Awards, presented each year by Home Media Magazine in cooperation with DEG: Digital Entertainment Group and the Entertainment Merchants Association.
FUNimation's nominees in the Best International TV DVD category are Dragonball Z Season Five, Hell Girl Volume 5, and One Piece: Season 1 First Voyage. And this is where the "good company" comes in, because the other nominee in this category is BBC Video's Torchwood Season 1. Not too shabby!
In the category of Best Animated TV DVD, anime is also doing fairly well, as Anchor Bay's Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd GIG sits beside other nominees like Family Guy Presents: Blue Harvest, Futurama: The Beast With a Billion Backs, and Robot Chicken: Star Wars.
Fans can play a role in choosing the winners, by going through the form on the TV DVD Awards site. But you only have until October 3, so do it quickly. And the organizers don't want you just to vote for your favorite: vote for the DVD you really believe is put together the best. Factors the organizers suggest you should consider include special features, menus, ease of navigation, packaging, and sound and picture.

There is no doubt in my mind that this movie is going to bomb so no I do not see this happening.

true. I earlier thought this could do decent but now I don't think so when the online signs show this will be next speed racer at boxoffice. $37 million at hsx compared to other big movies coming out next year is outright embarassing. No matter what it will do $80 million MAX. at domestic boxoffice if it is a good movie.

If they do make an animated version based on the movie it would not be canon.

Please respond to this post

Let us deflate your argument shall we?

First off you point to Speed Racer which seems to be the exact opposite of DB.

First off Speed Racer seems to have been EXTREMELY faithful to its original counter-part as compare to DB.

Hell they even included the frickin monkey. It was also directed/written by one of the biggest names in Hollywood and respected by fandom. Basically it was everything that every fanboy on this forum has been clamoring. Yet, when it came out it flopped and most people considered it mediocre.

Dragonball on the other hand has a lesser known director, not nearly as big a budget, and is trying to create its own world.

Let's also keep in mind here folks Speed Racer was released in the summer with a huge amount of competition. Also the internet is one of the worst predictors of the films, does everyone remember "Snakes on a Plane" or the fact that both Fantastic Four movies made a decent amount of money.

So please rephrase your argument so it makes sense.

Ok alot of movies are gettin cartoon series these days or the reboot of the old series.... for example transformers, spiderman, fantastic 4, most recently iron man, speed racer and I wanna kno you think if this movies successful you think they will try and do a animated series based of their universe and if so wat are your thoughts? As for my opinion I think it would be stupid but these days anything happens

I'm vomiting with extreme rage at the concept. :cmad:

if they did they should use the type of anime like death note that would be good

That would make me cry. Deathnote is horrible as an art basis, especially for Dragonball. I would rather see them go Transformers Animated on Dragonball than Deathnote style..

i prefer they use the teen titans art style cause that's the one that comes close to looking animeish

They should just keep the same style as the new DBZ special.

Sadly but No. Dragonball has already had its broad scale animated series, which was extremely popular. By making a new series based of the film would be pushing it. Dragonball has to stay original, if a new series was made it probably would be a cheesy rip off of the Original and also would not be just as cool. The reason Ironman and F4 are getting their own series is because they either have never had one or their cartoon wasnt just as popular. Another reason for all these new cartoons is for the pleasing of young viewers and attracting them so they can buy their movies and what not.

While I personally wouldn't have any interest in it, I also wouldn't be surprised if it happened. I expect this movie to be something of a hit with that target age group.
