dragonball the animated series

i miss watching dragonball z so id welcome a new animated series, chances are it would suck, but its not like it would hurt me or the old show(since ITS ALREADY OVER) so why the f not. Ive never understood why people are so against change or new stuff. The only thing id ask is if they did make it, to keep the same look of the characters and not try to model the movie characters and give Goku shorter hair or something like that.

You know, in good hands, they can do books, comics, etc like for example origins of Freeza, the dead of King Vegeta, the destruction of Namek, Vegeta childhood, Bardok adventures, etc, etc, but for a animated cartoon i would only want what Toriyama did, maybe a remade of the manga without fillers with the animation of nowdays, but i woul read a book Raditz journey before arrive to Earth for example, the origins of majinn Buu, etc, kind of star wars expanded universe

You read my mind. I agree with you 100%.

i guess...let's hope not unless the want to continue where dbgt left off

GT was a disaster.

The "official" continuation of the Dragonball history is going to be that Dragonball game Akira Toriyama and some south koreans are making. It starts 200 years after the end of DBZ ignoring everything that happened in GT, in other words, GT never happened (Thank God), which is a great relieve since GT sucked so bad it was sad.

I wouldn't be surprised in the least bit. I mean just look at the trends

Speed Racer: The Next Generation (will be released on the same date as the film)

I can definitely see this happening to the upcoming "Dragonball" film also.

What a bunch of ..... I cant believe they are doing that. That speedracer new generation thing looks crappy and BAD.

I apologize to everyone for the double post and for my not so polite post, but you have to admit, it sucks.

A "new generation" Dragonball comic would suck big time.

As far as we've come in the advances of animation...anyone else think its odd many new animated TV shows look like ****?

Yup.

the only good cartoon coming out really is the x-men one. spectacular spider-man and transformers are only okay..

and oh my goodness, don't let me even get started with batman: the brave and the bold. lol.

but yeah...there's no need for another dragon ball. it's already been established. i honestly would have liked it much more if it stopped at the end of cell saga.

Batman: brave and the bold???? Wat is that?? Oh and transformers is CRAPPPPPPYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!

I think 300+ episodes is enough.

OMG, I just had a mental image of what DB would look like using the animation style of the pics above, and it wasnt good. God, I hope they dont make another DB cartoon, who knows, they may call it Dragonball US

Only the Japanese should do a DB, american cartoons are Rugrats quality compare with Japanese animation.

You do realise this is a racist comment? Someone could really take offense to that.

if they make a cartoon they shoeld call it like dragonball the new generationj ore something but whit no goku becouse it makes people watch a diffrent way to dragonball the originel series but still like the idea of it

i didnt think thatt GT was that much of a disaster but i would still be happy if they continued the series 200 years after as long as it's the original creators.

thanks for the info about that game. i was wondering about that. do you think it will come to america?

Yea its coming to america but there's no release date

if i were a kid i'd probably be spewing with excitement...

...but as an adult, i'm already frikkin' tired of that style. they screwed up the Transformers cartoon, they don't need to be screwing up Dragon Ball.

I dont see any racism on that comment. Why dont you take a look at the dozens of websites that are bashing Dragonball JUST because its japanese (Example: cinemablend). Now THATS offesive.

Yeah, no doubt about that. :)

The USA is the #1 market for any game. So it will for sure reach the USA too.

My freind brought to my attention that at that site the josh dude kinda made fun of the new speed racer trailer that had a lot more background on the asian characters. He kept saying asian dude or kid. That weird funky hair style asian kid and whoever he is.

This is the quote my freind sent me. I swear this guy has soemthing against asians.

Speed Racer has a new international trailer, and it’s the longest we’ve seen so far. It also contains new footage, in particular from characters we haven’t seen much of until now… like the random Asian driver with the funky hair… whoever he is.

Speed Racer hits theaters in less than a month on May 9th. Watch the fresh international trailer (now with more funky Asian kid) below.

The explanation for that is the cartoons are marketed towards children, not adults.

Like kids wouldn't be watching cartoons anymore if the character designs actually had some proper proportions.

They don't. They just have a style that isn't like the cartoons you watched, so therefore you hate it.
I like realistic looking cartoons, like what we've had in the past. All these cartoons where the people look weird, the colors are funky, and a lot of the transitions don't look that great, I feel we've declined and not gotten better. Sure, maybe because its not my style I don't like it. But, hey, my style is realistic. And from what I've seen, these shows aren't really going for that.

Obviously kids like the style otherwise animation studios wouldn't bother trying to achieve it.

What confuses me is that some of you seem to believe that the style is flawed in some way. The proportions are actually deliberate and have their own set of rules. But you talk about it as if the animators can't draw.

So if they're not going for that style, you can't complain about them for not having it. It's not a failing if they never tried in the first place.

I've seen a lot of the other work some of these animators have done. They can draw, I've seen stuff I like. But I just don't get why they go for this odd style. Like you said, this kids must like it. Why? I don't know. Just is I guess.
