Dumb & Dumber 2-Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels Return

The quality of the overall trailer certainly looks a funny or die video, that's totally true.
Although I'm pretty sure that footage has none post-production color correction. It looks straight from the source with the on-set lightning and all.

Yeah, it looks so flat and dreary. Anchorman 2 looks better on a visual level.

Also Anchorman had that distinctive 70's look, which helped a lot.

this is an official trailer and the cinematographer is 70 years old. trust me this is how the movie will look.

i think they spend 95% of the money on Carrey,Daniels and the Farelly brothers.

I'm not buying the "moviez r so expensiv" routine when I hear it. You can go to an afternoon show here in the greater Phoenix area for like $6.

Here in Australia, a single adult 2D ticket costs $18.50. No matter the time of day. So I often hang out for "Tight Ass Tuesdays" as they're known (where the same ticket costs $11.50).

14 million hits in 2 days is pretty solid right?

Surprised it's doing that strong.

Honestly, this looks visually bland as it should look. I think the only comedy directors that have any visual flair are Edgar Wright & Todd Philips (even if you don't like The Hangover trilogy, these are damn good looking movies).

Doesn't look that different from the original one visually, at least, from what I remember.

I say to expect it to look exactly how it looks now when it's released. And visually, it looks bad. It really does look like an SNL Digital Short. They should have stayed away from digital (or made it look good).

You're only saying that because it's been 20 years since you've seen them together as those characters. Why don't you wait until you see the full movie before deciding if they "phoned it in" or not? I mean you know there's 111 other minutes of the movie you haven't seen right?
Stop getting all defensive about it. I even mentioned that, if you cared to read the rest of what I said. I clearly wrote, "but of course, I may like the movie overall, but so far, it just seems like they're phoning it in".

Visually, It looks cheap. Like they cut corners on camera and lighting equipment.

I'm still gonna hold out hope that this'll turn out decent but this first look didn't leave me with a good impression.

..... and SO FAR you've only seen 2mins worth of footage. In lieu of that fact, it makes it silly to even jump to the possibility of them phoning it in.

Jim Carey was the one who called up Peter Farelly and insisted that they absolutely had to do the sequel. You mean to tell me he'd push for a movie he didn't really want to do and would end up coasting in?

The aesthetic has been my problem with some of their other recent films (ex. Hall Pass). Not that it's supposed to be a visual tour-de-force, but it can't look cheap.

Again, when a movie like Tammy has better cinematography, somethings up or they're dating themselves. For the crap that people give the Hangover movies, they're simply beautiful when they didn't have to be.

It does look crappy but is not a deal-breaker for me. If it makes me laugh and it turns out a decent, above average follow up to the original, I'll be happy.

Yeah, the main thing I'm going to judge this movie on is how funny it is. A better looking movie would be nice, but hey, is what it is. If I had my way they'd have shot it on 35mm and tried to keep the look in line with the original, but as has been stated I'm quite sure most of the budget went to Jim and Jeff's salaries.

And the rest of the budget went towards filling vaginas with dust.

Can't believe people are ragging on the look.

Looks the same as the first movie, like real people living somewhat poor lifestyles.

Its not the look or tone of the movie. Its literally the way the production looks from a technical standpoint. The way it was shot, the way the lighting is done, etc.

From a visual aesthetic, THIS looks like a Hollywood production.

THIS looks like a student film with a tight budget.

Again, just visually.

Yes, the apartment is the more obvious example of how it looks more like a set than a real place.

Even the living room at the end of the trailer looks like a set off of 'Saturday Night Live'...

I'm telling you, don't worry.
That's raw footage. With a little color/tone - correction in post production, it will look better:

Fingers crossed. Because as others mentioned the footage in the trailer as it is, looks like a "Funny-or-Die" parody vid.

The thing with a film like this is that even if it's hilariously awesome I'll still probably avoid it, I usually don't bother with comedies in the cinema anymore as they can be real hit and miss.

Same here. I took a chance with Anchorman 2 and thankfully I enjoyed it.

I can't get over the 20 year joke Lloyd pulled on Harry LMAO.
